Mathura is a holy District in Uttar Pradesh in India. It is said that Lord Krishna born at Mathura city and spent his childhood at Vrindavan in Mathura district.


How to Reach Mathura

By Air: The nearest domestic airport is Kheria airport, Agra. It is 49 km away from Mathura.
Buy a cheapest air-ticket from below site. This is my favorite site because it shows the different airline ticket prices of the same flight. So it makes easy for me to buy the lowest price ticket.
Select your depart and return date. If one-way, click on the 'X' in the return date box. Click on search.



By train: From Delhi there are many trains go to Mathura. It takes 1 hour 23 minutes to reach Mathura. Fare about Rs.170.
By bus: Bus fare about Rs.300 to Mathura. It takes about 2.30 hours.
If you want to go Vrindavan, you may not get direct bus or train from Delhi. You have to come Mathura. Then from Mathura you will get 8 seated shared auto. Fare Rs.20 and it takes about 30 minutes. There is a shortcut way. If you coming from Delhi by bus, there is a place named ‘Chhatikara’, which is about 6 km before Mathura. Get off there and turn left. There you will get auto to Vrindavan. Which will take 15 minutes to reach. There is a temple “Maa Vaishno Devi Dham”, just 1 km from Chaatikara on the way of Vrindavan.

How to go: About 2.60 km from Krishna birth palace at Kishori Nagar. On the way from Vrindavan to Mathura anyone can visit at this place.

Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi

Temple Complex

Inside the temple complex you can visit
Keshavdeva temple: It was established on 6 September 1958.
Garbha Griha shrine: It is considered as the place of the prison cell where Krishna is believed to have born. It is located against the rear wall of Shahi Eidgah.
Bhagavata Bhavan: It was established on 12 February 1982.


Potra Kund

Well

A large and deep water tank in south-east of the Janmasthan temple. It is said to be used for the first bath of child Krishna after his birth.

How to go: It is about 500 meters from Kans Qila.


Congress Mathura

It is sandstone archway is a popular landmark in Mathura.
How to go: It is about 750 meters from Dwarkadheesh Mandir.


Government Museum

Museum

The museum was founded in 1874.
Visiting Time: 10.30 AM to 4.30 PM. Sunday and Monday remains closed.
Entry Fee: Rs.5 for Indian, Rs.2 for Children, Rs.25 for foreigner and Rs.20 for Camera
How to go: It is situated at Museum Road, Dampier Nagar, about 1.5 km from Mathura rail station and 1 km from Congress Mathura.
