Uruguay is a country in South America.
It shares borders with Argentina to its west and southwest and Brazil to its north and northeast, while bordering the Río de la Plata to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast.
Uruguay is divided into 19 departments, such as Artigas, Canelones, Cerro Largo, Colonia, Durazno, Flores, Florida, Lavalleja, Maldonado, Montevideo, Paysandú, Río Negro, Rivera, Rocha, Salto, San José, Soriano, Tacuarembó, Treinta y Tres.  Departments have been subdivided into municipalities. Currently there are 125 municipalities. Montevideo is the capital and largest city of Uruguay.
