Denmark is a Nordic country (Nordic is a region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic. It includes the sovereign states of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden as well as the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland, and the autonomous region of the Åland Islands).
Denmark lies southwest of Sweden and south of Norway, and is bordered to the south by Germany.
Denmark is divided into five regions (Capital Region, Southern Denmark, Central Denmark, Zealand and North Denmark). Regions are divided into 98 municipalities (Danish: kommuner). The Capital Region has 29 municipalities, Southern Denmark 22, Central Denmark 19, Zealand 17 and North Denmark 11. Copenhagen is the largest city and the capital of Denmark.
