Château Dufresne

The building was built in 1915-1918 as the residence of Marius Dufresne and Oscar Dufresne, two wealthy French Canadian entrepreneurs who played a major role in the history of Montreal.
Dufresne family sold the property to the Congregation of the Holy Cross in 1948. They used as a Holy Cross College. In 1957, the City of Montreal became the new owner of the estate. The mansion housed the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art from 1965 to 1968, and the Montreal Museum of Decorative Arts from 1976 to 1997. The Château Dufresne was declared a historic monument in 1976. Now it is the Château Dufresne Museum.

2,765 meters steel truss cantilever bridge was built and opened on May 14, 1930 over Saint Lawrence River. It connects Montreal and Longueuil. It also connect Saint Helen's Island on the river.

Château Ramezay

Museum

The building was built in 1705 as the residence of Claude de Ramezay, governor of Montreal. It became the Canadian headquarters for the Continental Army from 1775. Benjamin Franklin stayed there overnight in 1776 during American Revolutionary War (1775-1783).
After the conquest until 1849 the house was again used as a governor's residence. The building was used as Université de Montréal's first Faculty of Medicine in 1878.
Visiting Time: Saturday and Sunday - 10 AM to 4:30 PM.
Entry Fee: 11 Dollar (US$8.72). Garden entry free.

The building was built in 1872-1878. It was completely damaged by fire in March 1922. The new building opened on February 15, 1926.

Saint Joseph's Oratory

Church

It is Canada's largest church, with one of the largest church domes in the world. A smmal chapel was started to build in 1904 and later expanded four times. Oratory dome was completed in 1947. The church was completed in 1967.
Visiting Time: Saturday - 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Sunday - 7 AM to 8:30 PM. Monday to Friday - 8 AM to 5 PM.
Car Parking: 5 Dollar (US$3.97).
How to go: It is located at 3800 Queen Mary road. Free shuttle bus from 6:15 AM to 8:45 PM everyday. The cheapest way by subway matro to Côte-des-Neiges metro station, fare 3.25 Dollar (US$2.58). Then walk 15 minutes. By bus route 165 from Concordia Subway to the Mont Royal cemetery closed the Oratory.


Mount Royal

The hill consists of 3 peaks: Colline de la Croix (or Mont Royal proper) at 233 meters, Colline d'Outremont (or Mount Murray) at 211 meters, and Westmount Summit at 201 meters elevation above sea level.

Kondiaronk Belvedere: Observation place in front of Mount Royal Chalet.
Mount Royal Cross: Monument erected the first cross on Mount Royal in 1643. The present 31.4 meters cross was installed in 1924. It is located about 700 meters from Mount Royal Chalet towards north.
Mont Royal proper: The highest peak of Mount Royal at 233 meters elevation above sea level. It is about 150 meters from Mount Royal Cross towards west.
Camillien-Houde Belvedere: Lookout is located about 400 meters from Mont Royal proper towards west.
