Chapai Nawabganj is bounded by Malda and Murshidabad district of India on the north and west, Naogaon District on the east, and Rajshahi District on the south-east.

Chapai Nawabganj is divided into five sub-districts (Bholahat, Gomastapur, Nachole, Nawabganj Sadar, Shibganj).
