Madaripur is bounded by Faridpur District and Padma River on the north. Barishal on the south, Shariatpur and Meghna River on the east. Gopalgong District and Padma River on the west.

Madaripur is divided into 4 Upazilla or sub-districts (Madaripur Sadar, Kalkini, Rajoir, Shibchar).
