Koh Phangan is a district (Amphoe) of Surat Thani Province (Changwat) in Thailand. This island is famous for the Full Moon Party. If you are traveling to Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, you should book your ferry ticket in advance.


How to Reach Koh Phangan

Nearest Airport is in Koh Samui.

Buy a cheapest air-ticket from below site. This is my favorite site because it shows the different airline ticket prices of the same flight. So it makes easy for me to buy the lowest price ticket.
Type your travel city name "Koh Samui" in Destination box. Select your depart and return date. If one-way, click on the 'X' in the return date box. Click on search.



From Surat Thani Airport: Package cost about 800 Baht for Seatran Ferry. It takes about 6 hours.
From Donsak Ferry: Seatran ferry cost about 550 Baht and Raja ferry 210 Baht. All take about 2.30 hours.
From Koh Samui: Ferry cost is 300 Baht one way. It takes 30 minutes.
From Koh Tao: Lomprayah Ferry cost about 500 Baht.

Transportation in Koh Phangan

It will be better to rent a scooter for 150 Baht per day. Which will save your time and make you free. But don't rent from road side people, rent from any shop.

How to go: About 4 km from Thongsala Pier towards East.

Haad Num Tok

How to go: It is located near Haad Yang. From Thong Sala Pier turn right and go to 4.5 km towards east till Ban Tai bech. Then turn left towards hill and go 5 km towards north. Then turn right towards east about 5 km to the beach. There is a waterfall you visit on the way is Thaan Praphat Waterfall.

How to go: It is located 2 km south from Haad Nam Tok.

Haad Yao East

How to go: It is located 1 km south from Haad Yang beach.

Haad Wai Num

This is a tiny beach.
How to go: It is located about 2 km south from Haad Yao East beach.

Haad Thien East

Also known as Sanctuary beach. This beach is for sun lovers and those who are seriously concerned for a spa, yoga, massages and other natural healing therapies.
How to go: It is located situated between Haad Wai Num beach and Haad Yuan beach separated by a stone headlands.

Haad Yuan Beach

About 150 meter long beach.
How to go: It is situated about 5 km from Full Moon Party beach towards north and close to Haad Thien beach towards south.

Haad Rin Nok

Most popular beach throughout the world, due to Full Moon Party. Also called Sunrise Beach.
How to go:Well connected road from Thongsala pier towards east.

Full Moon Party

The most attractive thing in Koh Phangan is Full moon Party. The Full Moon Party is a giant festival with a lot of drinking, dancing, drugs, and sex. It’s held on certain date of every month. You will be surrounded by people selling buckets of alcohol fire shows and glow paint.
Party Time: Whole night.
Place: Haad Rin Nok Beach.
Entry Fee: Party is free but if you want you can buy alcohol bucket as much as you can drink and paint on your body for the right mood to really enjoy the party. It all depends on you.

Haad Khontee

How to go: From Haad Rin Nok beach, is made by footpath over the rocky shore, passing the lush, hard impassable forest and down into the beach. On the way you can see the stunning views of Haad Rin Nok (Sunrise) beach.

Leela Beach

Also known as Seekantang beach. 450 meter long beach between Khontee beach and Rin Nai beach. Opposite of Rin Nok beach.

Had Rin Nai Beach

Also known as Sunset Beach. Haad Rin Nai beach is divided into two halves by a small ferry pier. you may find lot of hotels at low prices.

Ao Hin Lor Beach

How to go: It is located between Haad Rin and Baan Kai beach.

Ban Kai Beach

How to go: It is located between Ao Hin Lor beach and Baan Tai beach.

Early in the start for sightseeing.

Phaeng Waterfall

Visiting Time: 8 AM – 4 PM.
Entry: Free but parking 20 Baht.

How to go: It is about 5 km from Thongsala Pier.

Khan Ban Dai Waterfall

How to go: It is around 500 meters up the jungle trail from Phaeng waterfall.


Kuan Yin Temple

This is a Chinese Temple. The temple was built in 1992.
How to go: From Thongsala to Phaeng Waterfall then about 3.5 km from the waterfall road towards north.

Paradise Waterfall

How to go: From Kuan Yin Temple go ahead about 650 meters towards north then you will see two road divided. Go through the right one more about 750 meters towards north and on your right you can find the waterfall.

Haad Khom Beach

Also Known as Coral Bay.
How to go: From Paradise Waterfall, go about 2.5 km towards north straight to the beach.

Chalok Lam Beach

How to go: From Haad Khom beach, go about 2 km towards south.

Malibu Beach

How to go: It is besides Chalok Lam beach towards west.

Haad Thong Lang Beach

Half Moon Party

If you miss the full moon party, there is another option to enjoy the whole night is called the Half Moon Party. It takes place in a huge open-air venue and has three music stages: psytrance, house and hip-hop.
Party date: Half moon Party held one week before and one week after the Full Moon Party.
Entry Fee: 1500 Baht at the gate.
How to go: By taxi to the forest, north of Baan Tai. From Than Sadet water fall 1 km towards west then 6 km towards south.
