How to Reach Lima

Jorge Chavez International Airport (IATA Code: LIM) is Peru's main international and domestic airport. It is located about 11 km from Lima towards west in Callao region.

Day-1:

Casa de la Literatura Peruana

Museum

Beautiful architectural building was built in 1912 as the former Main Railway Station of Lima. Now it houses library with a cafe. 16 exhibition rooms where the life and work of Peruvian writers are displayed.
Visiting Time: Tuesday to Sunday - 10 AM to 7 PM. Monday remains closed.
How to go: It is located at Jiron Ancash 207 in Cercado de Lima.


Government Palace of Peru

The Government Palace was originally built in 1536 by Francisco Pizarro, governor of New Castile. The building was damaged by an earthquake on 20 October 1687, and again in 1746. The building was also damaged by fire in December 1884, and again In 1921. After the demolition of the older structure, construction began on 24 August 1937 and was completed and inaugurated in 1938.
The Changing of the Guard is a major tourist attraction at the Government Palace. It held at noon daily. On the first and third Sundays of the month the guard changing held in the presence of the President and First Lady.
How to go: It is located southwest side of Casa de la Literatura Peruana at Jirón de la Unión s/n in Cercado de Lima.


Plaza De Armas De Lima

Square

It is the birthplace of the city of Lima. In 1821, José de San Martín proclaimed the Independence of Peru on this place. The flag of the new republic was paraded around this square. It is surrounded by many beautiful architecture.
Government Palace: It is located to the north, was built in 1938.
Archbishop's Palace of Lima: The residence of the Archbishop of Lima, is located to the east, was built in 1922.
Cathedral of Lima: Church is located to the southeast, was built in 1622.
The Royal Guard House: Located south of th square.
Municipal Palace: It was built in 1944.


Casa de Aliaga

Landmark

It was built in 1535 by Jeronimo de Aliaga y Ramirez. Since then the Aliaga family still living in this house.
How to go: It is located at Jirón de la Unión 224 in Cercado de Lima.


Piedra del Rio Rimac Bridge

Bridge

It was built in 1608 to link Lima with Rímac.


Day-2:

Basilica and Convent of Santo Domingo

The first church was started to built in 1530s and completed in 1578. It was completely destroyed by the earthquake of 1678. New church was completed in 1766.
How to go: It is located west side of Casa de Aliaga at Jirón Camaná 170, Jirón Conde de Superunda 262 in Cercado de Lima.


Casa de Osambela

It was built between 1803 and 1805
How to go: It is located southwest side of Santo Domingo Basilica at Jirón Conde de Superunda 298 in Cercado de Lima.


Alameda Chabuca Granda

How to go: It is located northwest side of Santo Domingo Basilica, about 200 meters from Casa de Osambela towards north at Jiron Santa in Cercado de Lima.

Church of Santa Rosa

It was started to build in 1792.
How to go: It is located west end of Alameda Chabuca Granda park at Avenue Tacna 100 in Cercado de Lima.


Sanctuary and Monastery of Las Nazarenas

It was built in 1771.
How to go: It is located about 400 meters from Church of Santa Rosa towards south at Jr. Huancavelica 515 in Cercado de Lima.


Plaza Dos de Mayo

It was built in 1874 to commemorate the 1866 Battle of Callao. The central monument of the square was built in France and reassembled here in 1873-1874.
How to go: It is located about 600 meters from Plaza Dos de Mayo at Avenida Alfonso Ugarte 595 in Cercado de Lima.



Day-3:

San Agustin Church

It was first built in 1573. The church completely damaged due to 1746-earthquake and rebuilt it.
Visiting Time: Monday to Saturday - 8 AM to 7 PM. Sunday 9 AM to 11 AM and 7 PM to 8 PM.
How to go: It is located 250 meters from the Plaza De Armas towards southwest and 400 meters from Monastery of Las Nazarenas towards east at Jirón Ica 251 in Cercado de Lima.


Jirón de la Unión

Street

About 620 meters North-south pedestrian street.
How to go: The street starts from the southwest corner of Plaza De Armas (north end) and ends at northwest corner of Plaza San Martín (south end).


Church of La Merced

Church

The church was built in 1535.
How to go: It is located about 250 meters from San Agustin Church towards southwest and 250 meters from the southwest corner of Plaza De Armas.


Plaza San Martín

Square

The square is UNESCO World Heritage Site. There was a hospital at this place named "San Juan de Dios". Hospital was demolished in 1850 and built a railway station. Rail station also demolished in 1911-1918. Due to 100th anniversary celebration of the independence of Peru, the square was inaugurated on July 27, 1921.
How to go: It is located south end of the Jirón de la Union street.


Universitario Park

How to go: It is located about 260 meters from Plaza San Martín towards east through Avenida Nicolas Pierola.

Church of San Pedro

The church was built in 1638.
How to go: It is located about 500 meters from Universitario Park towards north through Jiron Azangaro street.

BCRP Museum

Museum exhibits pre- and post-Columbian artifacts, jewelry, paintings.
Vitiing Time: Tuesday, Thursday to Saturday - 9 AM to 5 PM. Wednesday - 9 AM to 7 PM. Sunday and Monday remains closed.
Entry Fee: Free.
How to go: It is located about 100 meters from Torre Tagle Palace towards west at Jirón Ucayali 271 in Cercado de Lima.


Museum of the Inquisition and Congress

Visiting Time: 9 AM to 5 PM.
How to go: It is located about 500 meters from BCRP Museum towards northeast at Plaza Bolivar, Jirón Junín in Cercado de Lima.


Basílica y Convento de San Francisco de Lima

The church and convent was added to the UNESCO World Heritage site. The church and monastery were built 1674.
It also contains a library and catacombs.
Visiting Time: 9.30 AM to 5.30 PM every day.
How to go: It is located 300 meters from Museum of the Inquisition towards northwest at Jirón Lampa in Cercado de Lima.


Muninet Parque La Muralla

Visiting Time: 10 AM to 8 PM.
How to go: It is located north side of Basílica y Convento de San Francisco at Amazonas in Cercado de Lima.



Day-4:

Miguel Grau Square

Square

The square was inaugurated on October 28, 1946. It is named in honor of Miguel Grau Seminario. He was the commander of Monitor Huáscar and participated in several battles against the Chilean Navy.
How to go: It is located about 740 meters from Universitario Park towards southwest or 790 meters from Plaza San Martín toward south.


Museo de Arte Italiano

Visiting Time: Tuesday to Saturday - 9.30 AM to 4.30 PM. Sunday and Monday remains closed.
Entry Fee: 6 Sol ($1.66) for adult. 3 Sol ($0.83) for student.
How to go: It is located 100 meters from Miguel Grau Square towards northwest at avenue Paseo de la República 250 in Cercado de Lima.

Cementerio Presbítero Matías

Cemetery

The cemetery was founded around 1807.
Visiting Time: 8 AM to 7 PM every day.
Entry Fee: 7 Sol ($1.94).
How to go: It is located about 1.5 km from Plaza de toros de Acho towards southeast at Jr. Ancash - Barrios Altos.


San Cristobal Hill

Hill

Hill about 420 meters over the sea level. There is a little museum on the hill. You can see the whole Lima from the top. Beautiful view specially at evening, when the lights of the city are turned on.
Museum Entry Fee: 3 sol ($0.83).
How to go: A tourist bus known as "Urbanito" goes up on the hill from the edge of the municipality of Lima every day and fare 10 Sol ($2.77).


Plaza de toros de Acho

Building

It is the second-oldest bullring in the world after La Maestranza in Spain. It was built in 1765 on a site that had been used for several temporary bullrings since 1754. It was inagurated on 30 January 1766. The plaza was remodeled once, in 1944.
How to go: It is located beside the historical center of the Rímac District at Marañón y, Jr. Hualgayoc 3.


Paseo de Aguas

Main Attraction is Water show with lighting. So visit here in the evening.
How to go: About 300 meters from Plaza de toros de Acho towards northwest at  Jr. Madera 265 in Cercado de Lima.

Parque Zoológico Huachipa

Visiting Time: 9 AM to 5.30 PM every day.
Entry Fee: 20 Sol ($5.55).
How to go: Avenida Las Torres Sin Numero in Ate district.


Puruchuco

Archaeological Site

The complex was built during Inca period (1438–1533). The Incas were most notable for establishing the Inca Empire in pre-Columbian America, what is now Peru.
Puruchuco contains a small museum and a reconstruction of a palace.
Entry Fee: 5 Sol ($1.39).
How to go: By bus to Ate district and get off near the Metro supermarket. You will see direction post from there.

Museo de la Nacion

National Museum exhibits collection of Moche, Nazca, and Wari ceramics, ancient Andean artifacts.
How to go: It is located about 9.5 km from Puruchuco towards southwest and 2.3 km from Play Land Park - Monterrico towards west at Avenue Javier Prado Este 2465 in San Borja district.


Play Land Park - Monterrico

Amusement Park

There are more than 20 attractions.
Visiting Time: Monday to Friday - 5 PM to 11.30 PM. Saturday and Sunday - 3 PM to 11.30 PM.
Entry Fee: 10 Sol ($2.77). Free for child age below 12. 85 Sol ($23.58) for entry fee and all rides.
How to go: It is about 7 km from Puruchuco towards southwest and 2.3 km from National Museum towards east in Santiago de Surco district.


Gold Museum

Visiting Time: Monday to Friday - 9 AM to 7 PM.
Entry Fee: 33 Sol ($9.16) for adult and 16 Sol ($4.44) for child.
How to go: It is located 3 km from Play Land Park - Monterrico towards south at Jr. Alonso de Molina 1100 in Santiago de Surco district.


Friendship Park

Park with Moorish arc was built in 1924.
Visiting Time: 9 AM to 9 PM.
Entry Fee: Free.
Other Cost: Train ride - 4 Sol ($1.11). Boat rental - 5 Sol ($1.39).
How to go: About 3 km from Gold Museum towards southwest at Avenue Caminos del Inca 22 in Santiago de Surco district.



Day-8:

Paraiso del Sur

Visiting Time: Monday to Friday - 10 AM to 5.30 PM. Saturday and Sunday - 9 AM to 5 PM.
Entry Fee: 4 Sol ($1.11). Rides charge different fees.
How to go: It is located about 11 km from Friendship Park towards southwest at Carr. Panamericana Sur panamericana sur km 20.5.


La Granja Villa

Amusement Park

La Granja Villa is an amusement park and petting zoo are best for children.
Visiting Time: 10 AM to 6 PM every day.
Entry Fee: 59 Sol ($16.37).
How to go: About 4.6 km from Paraiso del Sur Water park towards northwest at Alameda Del Premio Real 397 in Chorrillos district.



Day-9:

Morro Solar

Headland

There is a monument on the top of the place. But Remember that, it is not a safe place for tourist even for locals. So omit this place or bring nothing expensive with you. There is a chance to to get robbed. So if you want to go take a return taxi to the top. Its little expensive but safer.
How to go: It is located on Malecon Grau Avenue in Chorrillos district. Just south of Agua Dulce beach and south of La Herradura in Chorrillos district.

How to go: It is located north side of Morro Solar in Chorrillos district.

Playa Agua Dulce

How to go: It is about 2 km from La Herradura towards north through beach side. It is located in Chorrillos district.

Playa Los Yuyos

Puente de los Suspiros is a 44 meters long bridge was built in 1876. It was destroyed during the War of the Pacific in 1881. It was rebuilt two years later.
How to go: It is located southwest side of Parroquia La Santisima Cruz church.

Parque del Amor is a ocean side park with huge kissing scultures such as El Beso (The Kiss).

How to go: It is located about 1 km from National Museum of the Archaeology towards north. Adjacent of Plaza De La Bandera.

Entry Fee: 35 Sol ($9.71) for adult. 30 Sol ($8.32) for senior age above 60. 17 Sol ($4.72) for student and child age below 16. Free for child age below 9.
How to go: It is located about 950 meters from Zona Arqueologica Monumental Mateo Salado towards southwest at avenue Simón Bolívar 1515, Pueblo Libre at the entrance on Navarra Street.


Parque de la Imaginación
