Jembatan Kota Intan

Historical Landmark

A bridge was built in 1628. It was called then "Jembatan Inggris" (English Bridge). The bridge was damaged by the attack of Banten and Mataram troops in 1628-1629. Then rebuilt by the Dutch VOC in 1630 and changed its name to "Jembatan Pasar Ayam" (Chicken Market Bridge). In 1655, the bridge repaired from wooden bridge to stone bridge and change its name "Jembatan Pusat" (Central Bridge). The bridge again renamed as "Queen Juliana Bridge", because it was repaired by the queen. After the Independence of Indonesia, the bridge was renamed as "Jembatan Kota Intan".
How to go: About 9 km from Waterbom Pantai Indah Kapuk towards east. It is situated at Ancol Pademangan, RT.8/RW.7, Pinangsia, Kec. Taman Sari.

Toko Merah

Historical Landmark

Toko Merah was built in 1730. It was the residence of the Dutch Governor-General.
How to go: The building is located in Jakarta Old Town. 500 meters walking distance from Jembatan Kota Intan (Dutch Bridge) towards south through Kali Besar Barat road. Situated at Jl. Kali Besar Barat No. 11, Pinang Siang No.3.

Jakarta History Museum

Also known as Fatahillah Museum or Batavia Museum. The building was built in 1710 as city hall of Batavia and History Museum opened in 1974.

Gedung Kesenian

Theater

Stamford Raffles, Lieutenant-Governor of the Dutch East Indies, ordered the construction of a simple bamboo theater In 1814. The name of the theater was then "Military Theater Venue". The theater was used for the entertainment of British soldiers. In 1821, the structure of theater changed. Construction took 14 months. The name changed to "Schouwburg Weltevreden". Inaugurated the theater on December 7 1821. The first performance in the building was Shakespeare's Othello.
Government took over the theater in 1848. In 1911 its administration was assigned to the city of Batavia. During the Japanese occupation the building was used temporarily as a military headquarters from 1942. In April 1943, it was used as a theater again, and named "Sin'tsu Cekizyoo". After the official declaration of independence of Indonesia, Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia, declared Central Indonesian National Committee here on August 29, 1945.
In 1951, the building was used by the Economy and Law faculty of Indonesia University. From 1957 to 1961, the building was used by the Indonesian National Theater Academy. The building name was changed to "Bioskop Diana" in 1968. In 1970, it renamed "City theater" and used as a cinema hall showing Chinese movies.
In 1984, it was renovated. On September 5, 1987, it was renamed the Gedung Kesenian Jakarta.

Lapangan Banteng

Taman Prasasti Museum

The museum was formerly a cemetery, built by the Dutch colonial government in 1795. It was inaugurated as Museum on July 9, 1977.

National Museum

Museum was established as a scientific institution by Dutch intellectuals established on April 24, 1778. Then the name of the museum was "Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen". The Museum was officially opened in 1868. It's name was Gedung Gajah (Elephant Building). On 17th September 1962, it was handed over to the Indonesian government and became known as Museum Pusat.
