How to Reach Tokyo

Narita International Airport (IATA Code-NRT), the primary airport for international flights, located in Narita, Chiba, 60 km east of Tokyo.
I always use the following app to buy air tickets. Because this app shows the cheapest tickets on all airlines. I can buy tickets as per my requirement. Enter the country you are going to. Then enter your departure and arrival date. And search.




From Airport you have to go to your hotel by bus or train. Or you can book online transfer by car.

Hotels in Tokyo

Where to stay in Tokyo is the main question after reaching at airport for the first time traveler. You can stay Shinjuku. If you like to stay at the best area for nightlife, then Roppongi is the place. But little expensive. To stay on a Budget, Asakusa is the best place for you.
I always use the following app for hotel bookings. Because it compares to Booking.com, Airbnb and other sites and shows the cheapest price in the same room. I can book a budget or a luxury room as I need it. Just enter your check in and check out date and click search.




Transportation in Tokyo

You can move around Tokyo by Tokyo Metro as you like with the Tokyo subway pass. It will be best for those, who will travel a lot. You can buy it from station.

Tokyo Subway 24-hour Ticket: 800 Yen ($7.44) for adult and 400 Yen ($3.72) for child.
Tokyo Subway 48-hour Ticket: 1200 Yen ($11.17) for adult and 600 Yen ($5.58) for child.

Go to the front desk for admission. Select your favorite yukata (Japanese Dress) and tell the number to the attendant at the Yukata Shop “Echigoya”. Change into your yukata. Put your clothes and belongings in the locker.
During departure, Return your yukata and belt to the designated box. Return your pass to the attendant. A “Paid Pass” will be issued after your payment is complete. Hand over the “Paid Pass” to the attendant at the exit.
Visiting Time: 11 AM to 9 AM of the next day. Open every day.

There are various zones inside the premises. Showcase zone displays 60 of the latest Toyota cars including new hybrid versions. A 1.3-km driving course where you can test drive any model if you have international or Japanese driving license. Waku-Doki zone and try zipping through a simulated race track, or join the kids at the Ride Studio, which has a 230-meter course and mini cars that don't require driving experience. the History Garage zone housing a historic car collection of 1950s to 1970s models. An observation space where you can watch a mechanic restoring classic vehicles, a go-kart course, exhibition area, cafe, and shelves of car-related books and models.

Kasai Rinkai Park

The park includes a bird sanctuary, the Tokyo Sea Life Park aquarium and 117 meter tall Diamond and Flower Ferris Wheel.
Visiting Time: park open 24 hours every day. But Ferris Wheel open 10 AM to 8 PM and till 9 PM on weekends and holiday.

How to go: The park is just besides to Kasai Rinkai Koen Station on the JR Keiyo and JR Musushino lines, 10-15 minutes and 220 Yen ($1.84) from Tokyo Station.

Tokyo Sea Life Park

Kiyosumi Garden

Visiting Time: 9 AM to 5 PM every day.

How to go: Catch the Marunouchi Subway Line from Tokyo Station to Otemachi (one stop from Tokyo station) and transfer to the Hanzomon Subway Line for Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station. The one way trip takes 10 minutes and costs 170 Yen ($1.57). The park is a short walk from Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station.

Tokyo Skytree

Became tallest tower in world and second-tallest freestanding structure in the world after the Burj Khalifa. Construction started on 14 July 2008 and completed    on 29 February 2012.
There are 2 observation decks. One is at floor-350, which called Tembo Deck. Another is at Floor-450, which is called Tembo Galleria.

Senso-ji

Buddhist Temple

The first temple was founded in 645 AD. It is the oldest temple in Tokyo.
Tokyo's largest and most popular festival, Sanja Matsuri held at Senso-ji in late spring. This festival takes place over 3–4 days.
How to go: It is besides Asakusa Shrine. Located at 2 Chome-3-1 Asakusa, Taito City.

Nakamise Shopping Street

This is a 250 meter popular street in Tokyo from Senso-ji Temple towards straight south to Kaminarimon Gate Senso-ji. This street is also called Orange Street. Street foods are available here.

How to go: Asakusa Pier is 250 meters from Kaminarimon Gate Senso-ji towards east.

Ueno Park

Ueno park is a Public Park. There are many museums are located at this park. Such as the Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum for Western Art, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and the National Science Museum. Ueno Zoo is also located here in the park.
Ueno Park is also popular cherry blossom spots with more than 1000 cherry trees lining its central pathway. The cherry blossoms are usually in bloom during late March and early April.
How to go: It is located next to Ueno Station in central Tokyo.

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum: Saturday to Thursday - 9.30 AM to 5.30 PM. Friday - 9.30 AM to 8 PM. Every 1st and 3rd Monday in a month remains closed. Entry Fee: Museum entry is free. There is seperate entry fee for each gallery. It varies 800 Yen ($7.37) to 1400 Yen ($12.9).
National Museum of Western Art: Sunday to Thursday - 9.30 AM to 5.30 PM. Friday and Saturday 9.30 AM to 8 PM. Entry Fee: 500 Yen ($4.61). Free entry after 5 PM on Friday and Saturday, free on 2nd and 4th Saturday each month, and 3rd November.

Shinobazu Pond: large natural pond located in Ueno Park.

Kanda Myojin Shrine

How to go: It is situated about 850 from Shinobazu Pond, Ueno Park towards south.

Yushima Tenmangu

How to go: It s about 270 meters from Shinobazu Pond, Ueno Park towards southwest.


Day-9:

Nezu-jinja Shrine

The shrine has a picturesque path of red torii gates. Nezu-jinja is famous for Azalea Festival, about 50 varieties blooming from late April to May. The festival features food stalls and games.
How to go: About 1.6 km from Yushima Tenmangu Shrine towards north.

Rikugien Gardens

Visiting Time: 9 AM to 5 PM every day.
Entry Fee: 300 Yen ($2.77) for adult and 150 Yen ($1.38) for seniors.
How to go: About 2 km from Nezu-jinja Shrine towards north. The nearest station to Rikugien Garden is Komagome Station of the JR Yamanote Line or the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line.

Yasukuni Shrine

How to go: About 1.42 km from Tokyo Dome towards southwest.

Chidori-ga-fuchi Green Way

A 700-meter-long lush green walkway along the moat of the Imperial Palace and cherry blossoms. Visit Chidori-ga-fuchi Moat between late March and early April for beautiful views.
How to go: About 300 meters from Yasukuni Shrine towards east.

Tokyo Imperial Palace

It was built in 1457 as Edo Castle. Now it is part of Tokyo Imperial Palace, the primary residence of the Emperor of Japan. Visitors are able to explore the parks and gardens free of charge and without registration. The area is divided into three main sections: the East Gardens, Kitanomaru Koen Park and the Kokyo Gaien National Garden.
Visiting Time: 9 AM to 4 PM. The East Gardens are closed on Monday and Friday.

Nippon Budokan: Built to host the judo tournaments of the 1964 Olympics. It is a large sports arena that still hosts martial arts events as well as other sporting events. It has also become a popular music venue. The first music performance was the Beatles in 1966. It is located north side of Kitanomaru Koen Park.
National Museum of Modern Art Crafts Gallery: A Handicraft museum. 10 AM to 5 PM. Monday remains closed. Entry Fee 300 Yen ($2.78).Free access on the first Sunday each month. National Museum of Modern Art is Located south side of Kitanomaru Koen Park.
Science Museum: Visiting Time - 9.30 AM to 4 PM. Wednesday remains closed. Entry fee - 720 Yen ($6.67) for adult and 260–410 Yen ($2.41-3.8) for child. Science Museum is Located south side of Kitanomaru Koen Park.
Occassion: Rare chance to see the Imperial Family as the Emperor, Empress, and family appear on the balcony of the Chowaden Hall to greet well-wishers. You can enter the grounds at the main gate from 9:30 AM to 2:10 PM. Security at the main gate (Nijubashi) will brief you and provide you a Japanese paper flag. You have to raise the flag during the Emperor or family arrive at the balcony.

* December 1st-9th – Visit of the General Public to Inui Street from 9 AM and 3 PM.
How to go: Imperial Palace area is located besides west side of Tokyo Station.

Hibiya Park is a 40 acre public park.
Hibiya Park has two flower gardens. One is for tulips with a fountain. Another is for roses. There are many restaurants, two outdoor music domes (large and small). You can listen music especially on weekends. There is also a small Park Museum, Hibiya Library, a public hall, a tennis court, and underground car parking.

Day-12:

Kabuki-za Theatre

Theater

The original Kabuki-za was a wooden structure, built in 1889. The building was destroyed on October 30, 1921, by an electrical fire and reconstuction completed in 1924. The theater was destroyed by bombing during World War II and was restored in 1950. It was demolished in 2010 and finally rebuilt in 2013.
Show Cost: Saytime shows usually cost 1000 Yen ($9.27) and evening shows usually cost 2000 Yen ($18.53).
How to go: About 1 km from Hibiya Park towards east. It is located at 4 Chome-12-15 Ginza, Chuo City.

Ghibli Clock

The clock is really big. Over 20 tons of copper and steel, three stories high and 60 feet wide.
Visiting Time: 3 PM, 6 PM and 8 PM every day. Saturday and Sunday extra chime at 10 AM. Go there few minutes early.
Cost: Free. Watch this from road side in front of Nittele Tower.
How to go: The clock is located in front of the Nittele Tower, which is Nippon Television headquarters.

The Diet is the center of political activity in Japan.
Tour Details: There are two types of tour of non-Japanese visitors. House of Councillors and House of Representatives.
House of Councillors: Visiting Time - Monday to Friday every hour from 9 AM to 4 PM. It is about sixty minutes tour and free of cost. No reservation needed for this tour. You can’t take photos in the building, only in the garden courtyard. You need to bring a passport, fill out a short visitor’s form, and security check before entering at the west side of the Diet Building on the north corner near Nagatacho Station.
House of Representatives: Visiting Time - Tours for Japanese speakers happen daily, but foreigners cannot take these tours. Foreigner can take a tour in English on Monday at 2 PM or Thursday at 3 PM. It is about 90 minutes tour and free. You must make an advance reservation by email (diettour@shugiinjk.go.jp) proding the following information.

1. Your preferred tour date
2. Your name or name of your group leader
3. Number of people who will take the tour
4. Contact email address
5. Physical address in your home country
6. Your contact information in Japan (hotel name and phone number).

You can take photos in the main chamber as well as at the end of the tour in the garden courtyard. You need to bring your passport, fill out a short visitor’s form, and security check before entering at the gate is the west side of the Diet Building.

How to go: JR Chuo Line connects Tokyo Station and Shinjuku Station with Showa Memorial Park.

Lake Sagami Pleasure Forest

Free Pass includes entry fee and unlimited rides on the attractions. It stays valid for the whole day, including Illumillion. So I think free pass is the best.
How to go: Sagamiko Station is the nearest station for this place. This station is connected with major stations such as Tokyo Station and Shinjuku Station. Once you reach Sagamiko Station, head to the bus stop in front of the station. By taking the local bus heading to Mikage, which departs from platform No. 1, you'll be reaching Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest in about 8 minutes. Train and but round trip cost is about 1500 Yen ($13.92).
Attractions: The Ferris Wheel, Oozora Tengoku (Swing), Three-Dimensional Maze (Find Your Way Out), Wild Dinning (Restaurant), Muscle Monster, Ururi (Hot Springs), Souvenir shop, Lights at Sagamiko Illumillion, Night stay facility.
