Cooks' Cottage

The cottage was built in 1755 in Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, England by the parents of Captain James Cook, captain in the British Royal Navy. In 1933, owner sold the house and an Australian, Sir Russell Grimwade bought this. He brought every pieces of the cottage by ship to Melbourne in 1934 and reconstructed the cottage. He donated the house to the people of Victoria.
