How to Reach Chengdu

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (IATA Code- CTU) is the major international airport serving Chengdu. Located about 16 km southwest of downtown Chengdu.

Day-1:

Guanxian

Dujiangyan city once had an old name, Guanxian.
How to go: From Chengdu Railway Station, by the bullet trains to Dujiangyan City. It takes half an hour. Then by bus 4, 6, 9, 19, or 31 to the Dujiangyan Scenic Area. Or by coach from Chengdu Chadianzi Bus Station to Dujiangyan Bus Station. It takes about 2 hours to reach. From Dujiangyan, by bus 2, 33, 8, 4 or 7 to Caijing building station and then walk about 200 meters.


Dujiangyan Irrigation System

Ancient Irrigation

The Irrigation System was originally built around 256 BC to control flood on the Minjiang River and is still in use today to irrigate.
There is a suspension bridge called the 'Anlan Cable Bridge' crossing the Minjiang River above Yuzui. The wooden bridge was constructed during Song Dynasty (960-1279).
There is also Fulong Temple is located in the Lidui Park. It was first built in Jin Dynasty (265-420) to commemorate of Fan Changsheng, the leader of Tianshi Taoism. Later, it’s used to commercate Li Bing.
Visiting Time: 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
Entry Fee: 90 Yuan ($13.89). Sight-seeing bus 15 Yuan ($2.32) for round-trip and 10 Yuan ($1.54) for single trip.
How to go: It is located in Dujiangyan City. From Chengdu Railway Station, by the bullet trains to Dujiangyan City. It takes half an hour. Then by bus 4, 6, 9, 19, or 31 to the Dujiangyan Scenic Area. Or by coach from Chengdu Chadianzi Bus Station to Dujiangyan Bus Station. It takes about 2 hours to reach.


Erwang Temple

Buddhist Temple

Also called Two Kings Temple was first built during Southern and Northern Dynasty (420-589) to commemorate Li Bing and his son by the ancient people. Later reconstructed during Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Temple Fair, held from June 24th to June 26th, according to the Chinese lunar calendar, and the Releasing Water Festival on Tomb Sweeping Day.
How to go: It is located at the foot of Mt.Yulei at Baihualing Road in Dujiangyan City.



Day-2:

Qingcheng Shan

It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Elevation of 1260 meters. There are 2 part of the mountain. Front Part is called Qingcheng Shan and Back side of the mountain is called Qingcheng Houshan.
Visiting Time: March to November - 8 AM to 5 PM. December to February - 8 AM to 6 PM.
Entry Fee: Front Mountain - 80 Yuan ($12.35), Rear Mountain - 20 Yuan ($3.09), Ten-Thousand Buddha Cave - 5 Yuan ($0.77), Crystal Cave - 10 Yuan ($1.54).
Cable Car Price: Front Mountain - 35 Yuan ($5.4) for single trip, 60 Yuan ($9.26) for round trip. Rear Mountain, Jinli - 30 Yuan ($4.63) for single trip and 55 Yuan ($8.49) for round trip. White Cloud - 45 Yuan ($6.95) for single trip and 80 Yuan ($12.35) for round trip.
Boating Cost: 5 Yuan ($0.77) for Yuecheng Lake on the Front Mountain, 2 Yuan ($0.31) for Cuiying Lake on the Rear Mountain.
How to go: From Chengdu Railway Station, by bullet trains to Qingchengshan Railway Station. Then by bus 101 to Mt. Qingcheng Mountain. From Dujiangyan Scenic Area, by bus 101 from to Mt. Qingcheng.
Inside the Premises:
Jianfu Palace: It was built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). 2 temples and 3 compounds are exist here.
Tianshi Cave: There is a stone statue of Zhang Tianshi, cultivated himself and preached here around the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220). There are 3 buildings exist in this area - the Sanhuang Palace, the Sanqing Palace and the Huangdi Temple.
Fangning Bridge: Bridge.
Zushi Palace: It is preserved from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Shangqing Palace: It was built in the Jin Dynasty. Now only the part built by Qing Daynasty is exist.



Day-3:

Jiezi Ancient Town

How to go: It is located at the foot of Fengqi Mountain. From Qingchengshan Station, by bus 102, directly to Jiezi Ancient Town.
Inside the Premises: Qing-dynasty Jiangcheng Street, Tea and Horse Bureau, Shuimu Leisure Square, river rafting, Gingko Tree Square, Ziku Pagoda, Ruilong Bridge, bar street.


Yuantong Ancient Town

3 rivers - Wenjinjiang, Weijiang, Bojiang meet here.
How to go: It is located about 11 km from Jiezi Ancient Town towards southeast in Chongzhou City.



Day-4:

Anren Ancient Town

How to go: It is located in Dayi County.
Inside the Premises: Liu’s Manor, Liu’s Manor Museum, Liu Wenhui’s Mansion.
Ancient Streets: Shuren Street, Yumin Street and Hongxing Street.
Film Museums: Cui Yongyuan Film Legend Museum and Old Film Museum.


Jianchuan Museum Cluster

It is the largest folk museum in China. Jianchuan Museum Cluster is consists of more than 30 museums with four thematic sets.
Visiting Time: 9 AM to 5:30 PM.
Entry Fee: 100 Yuan ($15.44) for adult.
How to go: From Chengdu Chadianzi Bus Station to An’ren Town. It takes 70 minutes to reach.



Day-5:

Xiling Snow Mountain

Highest peak at 5,346 meters above sea-level.
Entry Fee: Front Mountain - 30 Yuan ($4.63). Back Mountain - 120 Yuan ($18.53) from December to March. 160 Yuan ($24.70) on New Year and Spring Festival. Free from April to November. Dafeishui Scenic Area - 30 Yuan ($4.63).
Cable Car Cost: Sun and Moon Platform - Skiing Resort - 50 Yuan ($7.72) for single trip and 80 Yuan ($12.35) for round-trip from 9 AM to 4 PM. Mandarin Duck Pond - mountain foot - 70 Yuan ($10.81) for single trip and 120 Yuan ($18.53) for a round-trip from 9 AM to 5:30 PM.
How to go: It is located in Dayi County, about 95 km away from the Chengdu.
Inside the Premises: Mandarin Duck Pond, Five-colored Waterfall, Dufu Pavilion, Yin Yang Boundary, Sun and Moon Platform, Red Stone Peak, Skiing Resort, Panda Woods.



Day-6:

Pingle Ancient Town

Entry Fee: Free to village. Pingle Folk Custom Courtyard - 10 Yuan ($1.54), Golden Chicken Valley - 40 Yuan ($6.18). Outdoor Rock Climbing - 40 Yuan ($6.18), Via Ferrata - 80 Yuan ($12.35).
How to go: It is located about 65 km southwest of Chengdu in Qionglai City.
Inside the Premises:
Ancient Residences and Streets: The buildings of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in the town.
Old Banyan Trees: Planted in the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Ancient Temples: Temple in Jinhua Mountian and the Guanyin Bodhisattva Monastery of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) are popular.
Golden Dam: Dam over Baimo River.
Time-honored Leshan Bridge: 120 meters bridge was built in 1861.
Festivals: There are many festivals are held at this town. Guanyin Bodhisattva Fair on 19th February in Chinese lunar calendar, the City God Temple Fair on the 11th of the third lunar month, the Mountain God Fair on the 6th of the sixth lunar month, the River Lantern Show on the Qingming Festival, and the lion dance and ox dance from the 1st to the 15th of the first lunar month.
Ancient Post Road: The ancient post road of the Qin Dynasty (221BC -207BC) and Han Dynasty (202BC -220AD) on the Dragon Riding Mountain (Qilong Mountain) in the town is well-preserved.

Tiantai Mountain

Inside the Premises: Leiyin Temple, Moyun Peak, Shenfeng (magical bee) Cave, Monk Court.
Mottled Stone Sea: Lake on mountain.
Butterfly Shoal: Stream Bed. Multi-colored butterflies play on the stream.
Three Enchantments of Lissome Water: One of the popular spots.
Mottled Stone Forest: 2 square kilometers forest area.
Small Jiuzhaigou: Scenic area.
18-li (9000-meter) Vanilla Valley: Water playing valley.


Shixiang Lake

Stone Elephant Lake was named after the Stone Elephant Temple.
Visiting Time: May to September: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM. October to April - 9 AM to 5 PM.

How to go: It is located in Pujiang County. Buses depart at 9 AM, 10 AM, and 10:20 AM from Xinnanmen Bus Station. It takes about 1.5 hours to reach. Bus Fare 33 Yuan ($5.09).

Huawu Renjian

How to go: It is located in Xinjin, 30 km from Chengdu.

Huanglongxi Ancient Town

How to go: It is located in Shuangliu County, 30 km southeast from Chengdu. By bus from Xinnanmen Bus Station, Chadianzi Bus Station or East Railway Station Bus Station to Huanglongxi. Fare 15-16 Yuan ($2.32-2.47).

Haichang Polar Ocean World

Visiting Time: 9 AM to 6 PM.
Entry Fee: 190 Yuan ($29.33) for adult. 130 Yuan ($20.07) for child height 3.9-4.9 feet. Free for child height below 3.9 feet.
How to go: It is located at 2039 Tianfu Avenue South Section, Shuangliu. By Metro line 1 to Haichang Road Station. Exit A, then walk east around 300 meters.

How to go: It is located at No.8 Ronghua North Street, Gucheng Town, Pidu District. By Metro Line 2 to Xipu Station. From there by express bus to the museum.

Wenshu Yuan Monastery

It is said that the temple was first built during the Sui dynasty (581–618). It is said that the temple was destroyed by fire at the end of the Ming dynasty (1368–1644). Renovations and rebuilding to the buildings began in 1697 and were completed in 1706.
Visiting Time: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Entry Fee: Free.
How to go: It is located about 780 meters from Tibet Hotel towards south at 66 Wenshuyuan Street, Cao Shi Jie in Qingyang District. By Metro Line 1 to Wen Shu Yuan Station.
Inside the Premises: Four Heavenly Kings Hall, Hall of Three Sages of the West, Mahavira Hall, Dharma Hall.


West Pearl Tower

339 meters high TV tower was built in 2004. It has a revolving restaurant with a 360 degree view of the city.
Visiting Time: 9 AM to 10 PM. Lunch Time - 11:30 AM to 2 PM. Dinner Time - 5:30 PM to 9 PM.

How to go: It is located about 2.8 km from Wenshu Yuan Monastery towards southeast at 96 Mengzhuiwan Street at Chenghua District. By Metro Take Metro Line 1 from the Chengdu North Train Station to the Tianfu Square. Then transfer to Line 4 to Shuanglin Road. Then, walk to the tower.



Day-12:

Wangjiang Pavalion Park

Visiting Time: Park - 6 AM to 9 PM. Historic relics - 8 AM to 6 PM.
Entry Fee: Free for park and 20 Yuan ($3.09) for the historic relics.
How to go: It is located about 4.4 km from West Pearl Tower towards south. By Bus 19, 35 or 1107 to Wangjianglou Gongyuan.


Anshun Bridge

The first bridge was built in 1746 along the Jin River. It was destroyed by flood in 1947. The bridge was rebuilt which was again destroyed by floods in the 1980s. Present bridge was constructed in 2003. The bridge contains a large restaurant.
How to go: It is located about 1.4 km from Wangjiang Pavalion Park towards northwest through the Jin River path in Jinjiang District.


Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li Chengdu

The area consists of an open air, 'lane-driven' mall, a 5-star hotel 'The Temple House' and a Grade-A office tower 'Pinnacle One'.
How to go: It is located about 1.5 km from Anshun Bridge toward northwest in the Jinjiang District.

About 520 meters northeast-southwest shopping street.
How to go: It is starts from Shudu Avenue (north end) besides Jinhuaguan park to E Street Shangdong Street Section.


Tianfu Square

How to go: It is located near Sichuan Science and Technology Museum.

Sichuan Science and Technology Museum

Visiting Time: Tuesday to Sunday - 9 AM to 5 PM.
Entry Fee: Free but you have to show passport to get free ticket. 2,000 tickets provides from Tuesday to Friday and 5,000 tickets on weekend from 9 AM to 4 PM.
How to go: It is located about 1.1 km from the south end of Chunxi Road towards west. By Metro Line 1 or Metro Line 2 to Tianfu Square Station. Exit G and walk to the museum.


Kuanzhai Alley

Also known as “Wide and Narrow Alley” or “Kuanzhaixiangzi Alley”. It consists of 3 historic parallel alleys (Wide Alley (Kuan Xiangzi), Narrow Alley (Zhai Xiangzi), Well Alley (Jing Xiangzi)) from Qing dynasty. Ancient style buildings are located there.
How to go: It is located northwest side of People's Park.

How to go: It is located about 750 meters from Tianfu Square towards west.

Wuhou Temple

Also known as Wuhou Shrine Temple of Marquis.
Visiting Time: May to October - 8 AM to 8 PM. November to April - 8 AM to 6:30 PM.
Entry Fee: 50 Yuan ($7.72) for adult. 25 Yuan ($3.86) for child age 6-18. Free for child below 1.3m (4.3ft) or under 6 years old.
How to go: It is located about 1.4 km from the southeast corner of People's Park towards south.
Inside the Premises: Triple-Success Stele, Temple of Liu Bei, Temple of Zhuge Liang, Sanyi Temple, Tomb of Liubei.


Garden Area, Chengdu Wuhouci

How to go: It is located west side of Wuhou Temple.

Jinli Street

About 550 meters long street was the First Street of the Shu Kingdom (221-263).
How to go: It is located near Wuhou Temple.

Yongling Museum

Entry Fee: 20 Yuan ($3.09) for adult. 10 Yuan ($1.54) for student.
How to go: By Metro Line 4 to Kuanzhai Xiangzi (Wide and Narrow Alley). Exit D and walk 1 km towards north.


Chengdu Museum

Visiting Time: Tuesday to Sunday - 9 AM to 8:30 PM. Monday remains closed.
Entry Fee: Free. Collect free ticket.
How to go: It is located about 900 meters from northwest corner of People's Park towards west at 1 Xiaohe Street in Qingyang District.


Shu Feng Ya Yun Sichuan

Show Time: 8 PM to 9:30 PM.
Ticket Price: A Seats Ticket - 240 Yuan ($37.05). B Seats Ticket - 180 Yuan ($27.79). C Seats Ticket - 140 Yuan ($21.61).
How to go: It is lcoated about 650 meters from Chengdu Museum towards southeast at 23 Cultural Park, Qintai Road.


Qingyang Palace

Qingyang Palace was originally built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
Visiting Time: 8 AM to 6 PM.
Entry Fee: 10 Yuan ($1.54).
How to go: It is located about 580 meters from Chengdu Museum towards south. you have to cross the bridge.


Sichuan Museum

Vistiting Time: Tuesday to Friday and Sunday - 9 AM to 5 PM. Saturday - 9 AM to 8 PM. Monday remains closed.
Entry Fee: Free. 4,000 free ticket issues a day. You need ID card or passport to get free ticket.
How to go: It is located 750 meters from Qingyang Palace towards west through the bank of the river.


Thatched Cottage of Du Fu

It was the home of a famous poet, Du Fu, in Tang Dynasty (618-907).
Visiting Time: May to September - 8 AM to 8 PM. October to April - 8 AM to 6:30 PM.
Entry Fee: 60 Yuan ($9.26) for adult. Free for child height below 3.9 feet.
How to go: It is located about 650 meters from Sichuan Museum towards west 28 Caotang Rd, Qing Yang Gong Shang Quan, Qingyang District. By Metro Line 4 to North Caotang Road Station. Walk south for about 15 minutes.


Huanhuaxi Park

How to go: It is located about 400 meters from Thatched Cottage of Du Fu towards south.


Day-14: Xindu

Baoguang Temple

Buddhist Temple

Also called Hokkoji Temple. The temple was first built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It was burnt down during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). It was rebuilt during Qing Dynasty (1636–1912).
Baoguang Temple is consists of 16 courtyards, 5 palaces and 1 pagoda of wood and stone. Inside the Gate of the Monastery, you can see the Hall of Heaven Kings, the Dagoba, Hall of Seven Buddha, Depository of Buddhist Sutras and Zixia Mountain. On each side there is a bell tower, a drum tower, meditation room, and other Buddhist buildings. You can also see the most important part,
Visiitng Time: 8 AM to 5 PM.
Entry Fee: 5 Yuan ($0.77).
How to go: It is located about 25 km from Chendu city center towards north at 81, Baoguang Street, Xindu District, Chengdu. From Chengdu, by Metro Line 3 and get off at Clocl Tower Station. Then by bus to Baoguang Temple.
Inside the Premises:
Dagoba: Pagoda is located between the Hall of Heaven Kings and the Hall of Seven Buddha. Inside the pagoda, there are 140 statues of copper, stone, jade, etc.
Hall of Seven Buddha: It is the only remaining part from period of Xizong Emperor. There are statues of tathagata inside.
Depository of Buddhist Sutras: There are paintings on the wall. There is a statue of Thousand-hand Bodhisattva.
The Hall of the Arhats: There are 518 statues of arhats.


Chengdu City Plant Park

Botanical Garden

Also called 'Chengdu Botanical Garden' on about 104 acres of land. The garden has 4 areas, the Flower Appreciating Area, Recreation Area, Tree Woods, and Experimental Center.
Visiting Time: June to August - 6:30 AM to 8 PM. September to May - 7 AM to 7 PM.
Entry Fee: 10 Yuan ($1.54). Free for child height below 3.9 feet.
How to go: It is located about 9 km from Baoguang Temple towards south. From Chengdu by bus line 143, 254, 650a, 650, 653, 658, 659, or 660, to Zhi Wu Yuan station. Then, walk about 200 meters towards east to the park.


Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Visiting Time: 7:30 AM to 6 PM.
Entry Fee: 58 Yuan ($8.95). Free for child height below 4.3 feet.
How to go: It is located about 6 km from Botanical Garden towards southeast. By Metro Line 3 and get off at Dong Wu Yuan Station. Get out from Exit B. Then by bus 198 or 198a to the base.



Day-15:

Zhaojue Temple

Buddhist Temple

The original temple was built during the Zhenguan period (627–649) of the Tang dynasty (618–907). Emperor Zhenzong (23 December 968 – 23 March 1022) restored the temple. Under his leadership, the temple reached more than 300 halls and buildings. Main Hall, Four Heavenly Kings Hall, Buddhist Texts Library, Yuanjue Hall, Octagonal Pavilion were added to the temple in 1663 during the Qing dynasty (1644–1911).
Almost all volumes of sutras, historical documents, statues and other works of art in the temple were destroyed in 1966 during the Cultural Revolution. Zhaojue Temple was classified in 1983 as a national key Buddhist temple in the Han Chinese area. Reconstruction works began in 1984.
Visiting Time: 8 AM to 5 PM.
Entry Fee: 2 Yuan ($0.31).
How to go: It is located about 4.5 km from Chengdu Railway Station towards northeast at 333 Zhaoqing road, Chenghua District. By Metro Line 3 and get off at Chengdu Zoo. Then walk to the temple within 5 minutes.


Chengdu Zoo

Visiting Time: April to November - 8 AM to 5 PM. December to March - 8:30 to 5 PM.
Entry Fee: 20 Yuan ($3.09) for adult. Free for child height below 4.3 feet.
How to go: It is located about 400 meters from Zhaojue Temple towards north at 234 Zhaojuesi S road, Chenghua District. Take Metro Line 3 to the zoo directly.



Day-16:

Luodai Ancient Town

Ancient Area

This is an ancient town dated back the Three Kingdoms period (220–280). About 20,000 Hakka people settled in this town. Hakka culture are well-preserved in this town.
Inside the Premises:
Four Guild Halls: It consists of Guangdong Hall, Jiangxi Hall, Huguang Hall and Chuanbei Hall. The four buildings were built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Guangdong Hall also known as Nanhua Palace, is most famous among them. It was built in 1746.
Hakka Museum: It is located in Huguang Hall. It exhibits bronzes, potteries, irons, carving stones and coins.
Hakka Park: There are teahouses and pavilions inside the park.
Visiting Time: Anytime.
Entry Fee: Free.
How to go: It is located about 18 km away towards east from downtown Chengdu. By Metro Line 4 to Xihe station. Exit A and by Bus 219 to Luodai Passenger Transport Center.

Visiting Time: March to October - 8 AM to 8 PM. November to April - 8 AM to 6:30 PM.
Entry Fee: 80 Yuan ($12.35) for adult. 4D movie - 20 Yuan ($3.05). Free for child below 4.3 feet or age 6 and senior age above 70.
How to go: It is located at 2 Jinsha Yizhi road, Jin Sha Shang Quan in Qingyang District. From Chengdu Railway Station by Metro Line 7 to Jinsha Site Museum, Exit C.
