Patuakhali is a district in Barishal Division of Bangladesh.

Patuakhali is bounded by Barishal district on the north, Bay of Bengal on the south, Bhola district on the east, Barguna district on the west.

Patuakhali district is divided into 8 upazila or sub-district (Bauphal, Galachipa, Dashmina, Kalapara, Mirzaganj, Patuakhali Sadar, Dumki, Rangabali).

Kuakata Sea Beach


Kuakata with a beach length of 18 kilometers. Due to the geographical location, the sunrise and sunset scenes only can be enjoyed from this beach. Sunrise is best viewed from the Ganga-Moti canel bend at the east end of the beach. The best place to visit the sunset is the Kuakata Western Beach.

Historical Well

It is reported that in 1784 the Burmese king captured Rakhine's motherland, Arakan, so many Rakhine left the place and looking for shelter thay sailed their boat on the Bay of Bengal. On the way, they found a sandy island on the banks of the Bay of Bengal and settled there. They dug a well (Bengali: Kua) here for sweet water, which is inadequate to use the sea water. From then on, the place is known as 'Kuakata'.

Shima Buddhist Temple


About 37 kilo weight of the ancient Buddha statue made of ancient octavo.
How to go: Near the well.


Boat

Historic Boat

In 2012 at Kuakata a 62-feet tall and 16-feet wide a large boat found inside the sand after hundred years.
Keranipara Rakhain Polli
How to go: It is near Shima Buddhist Temple. The place is known to local as Jadughor (Museum).


Tribal Village


The main work of Rakhaine women here is to making clothes. The hand-made products made by Rakhaines are quite attractive.
How to go: Near Shima Buddhist temple, there is the tribal living place.

Dried Fish Village

There are lots of fishermen living here. From November to March, the work of making drying is mainly done here. Fishermen make dried fish on the beach by catching fish from the sea. The tourists gathered here to see the processing to make dry fish.
How to go: It is located at the 7 km west from Kuakata sea beach.


Misripara Buddhist Temple


It is said that this temple has the largest Buddha statue in the subcontinent
How to go: 8 Km away from Kuakata sea beach.


Largest Trabal Village


How to go: Near Misripara Buddhist Temple, there is a village name Aamkhola.

Gonga-Moti Jungle

Jungle

In addition to many trees, there are various types of birds, Forest Cock-chickens, monkeys etc.
How to go: The sea beach of the Kuakata is finished in the Ganga-Moti canal in the east. The Ganga-Moti Jungle is started from here.


Crab Island


Visiting Time: In the travel season (October-March), from Kuakata sea beach you can go to Crab Island by speed boat.
How to go: From Kukataka go to East to Ganga-Moti jungle. After the Jungle go ahead, you will find a island which is known as crab island.


Sonar Char

Island

There are 7 km Long beach with the extensive forests.
How to go: Patuakhali Rangabali upazila near the Bay of Bengal.


Lebur Char

Island

How to go: 5 Km East from Kuakata beach. Go to there by Van or Bike.

Fatrar Bon

Forest

On the west side of the Andharmanik river, the forest named Fatrar Forest. Though it is in the Borguna district but it is easy to go there from Kuakata. There are no wild animals in this forest.
How to go: You have to go there by engine-boat from Kuakata.
