Bogura (previous spelling was Bogra) is a northern district of Bangladesh, in Rajshahi Division.

Bogura is bounded by Joypurhat and Gaibandha district on the north, Natore and Sirajganj district on the south, Jamalpur district on the east, and Naogaon and Natore district on the west.

Mohemmed Ali Museum

Muhammad Ali was born in Bogra in an aristocratic Nawab family. Officialy he was carring the family name Bogra. He studied at the Calcutta University and in 1937 he was elected to the Bengal legislative assembly.
In 1943, Muhammad Ali became parliamentary secretary to Khawaja Nazimuddin, the then Chief Minister of Bengal in undivided India. Later in 1946, he became Finance and Health Minister of the province.
After the formation of Pakistan, he was appointed Ambassador to Burma in 1948 High Commissioner to Canada in 1949 and finally Ambassador to USA in 1952.
Khawaja Nazimuddin, the then Prime Minister of Pakistan was dismissed by the Governor General, Malik Ghulam Muhammad in April 1953, and Muhammad Ali Bogra was appointed Prime Minister on April 17, 1953 by the Governor General.

Govinda Vita at Mahasthangarh is another archaeological spot from the great Mahasthangarh of Bogra. This is also at Shibganj, and just opposite of the Mahastangarh Museum.

Gokul Medh (Behula Lakshindarer Bashor Ghar)

Historical Place

Gokul Medh is locally known as Behula Lakkhindar Bashor Ghar. Excavation was conducted in the site in 1934-36. It revealed ruins of a 42 feet high platform consisted of 172 blind cells. On the flat of top of this platform a Buddhist religious Stupa was built in the first constructional period ( C.6th-7th Century A.D) another temple was built on the ruins of the former. Subsequently, the floor of the temple was raised for some unknown reason. a human skeleton, a masonry hole (10 Feet), a fragmentary stone, a golden leaf inscribed with a bull were also come out from the above mentioned hole from the excavated evidences the building appears to have been discovered with ornamental, bricks, containing geometrical designs and floral.
