How to Reach Malacca

By Air: You can reach at Malacca from any airport in Malaysia. From airport to city is little bit tough to get bus.

From Kuala Lumpur: Bus takes about 2.5 hours and fare between 13-15 Ringgit.
From Johor Bahru: Bus takes about 3 hours and fare between 15-21 Ringgit.

How to go: It is situated at Lebuh Ayer Keroh. The highway bus coming from Kual Lumpur or Johor Bahru to Malacca Central bus station go via Ayer Keroh. So you can get of from bus at this place. Tell the bus driver to drop you at this place.

Here you will see replicas of traditional Malaysian and ASEAN homes.

Villa Sentosa

Living Museum

Villa Sentosa is a house at Kampung Morten village. There are 50 old traditional houses in this village. The village was named after Frederick Joseph Morten, a colonial British administrator who assisted the resettlement of the villagers to this area in the 1920s.
Villa Sentosa now serves as a private museum and is open to the public. It is known as The Malay Living Museum.
Visiting Time: Saturday to Thursday - 9 PM to 6 PM, Friday - 2 PM to 6 PM.
Entry Fee: Free but pay in the donation box what you want.
How to go: It is situate at the opposite of the river from Shore Shopping Gallery.

Sam Po Keng Temple

The temple was founded in 1795. There is a well near the temple is Hang Li Poh's Well. The well was built in 1459.
How to go: It is situate at the end of the road Bukit Cina towards east.

Stadthuys

It was built by the Dutch in 1650 as the office of the Dutch Governor and Deputy Governor.
The Stadhuys is known for its red structure.

Queen Victoria's Fountain

It was built in 1886 by Mr Tan Jiak Kim, a Chinese philantrophic millionaire family. His father Tan Kim Seng who donated both the bridge nearby to the clocktower and land for the Chinese cemetery.

A Famosa

Historical Ruined Fort

A Famosa is a former Portuguese fortress. In 1511, a Portuguese fleet arrived under the command of Afonso de Albuquerque. His forces attacked and defeated the armies of the Malacca Sultanate. Albuquerque built the fort. In 1641 dutch captured the fort when the Dutch drove the Portuguese out of Malacca. The Dutch renovated the gate in 1670. The inscription on the gate is "ANNO 1670". It was in the late 18th century when the Dutch handed it over to the British. The fort was almost totally demolished but Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore, who decided to save two of the gateways to the fort.
A Famosa was officially opened to the public on 18 April 2008.

Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum

Sultan Mansur Shah was built his palace in 1459. One year after the Sultan ascended the throne, it was destroyed by a thunderstorm.
The museum building was constructed in 1984. The museum was officially opened on 17 July 1986.

Entry Fee: 2 Ringgit for adults, 1 Ringgit for Child.

Proclamation of Independence Memorial

The memorial building was established in 1912 as a club for the British people in British Malaya.

Royal Malaysian Customs Museum

Customs Museum was established on August 25 2006.
Visiting Time: 9 AM – 5 PM every day.

Maritime Museum

Monthly visitors around 20,000 people. it is the most visited museum in Malacca.
Visiting Time: Monday to Friday - 9 AM to 5.30 PM, Saturday and Sunday - 9 AM to 9 PM.
Entry Fee: Ringgit 3 for adult and Ringgit 1 child and student.
