Mount Bromo

Active Volcano

Most of the tourist takes Mount Bromo sunrise package from their hotel and Surabaya or Probolinggo or Cemoro Lawang. Package tour take them at midnight.
Those who want to go alone without tour package and obviously the cheapest way, I'm giving an idea for them.

To visit Mount Bromo you need to go Cemoro Lawang. From Surababya there are three ways -
By Taxi: Costly but comfortable.
By Bus: From the Purabaya bus station (also known as Bungurasih terminal, about 1 km from Carnival Park), take a bus going to Probolinggo. Fare inside the bus about 35,000 Rupiah ($2.49). It takes about 2-3 hours.
By Train: From Gubeng Station, train to Probolinggo costs between 30,000 Rupiah ($2.14) to 60,000 Rupiah ($4.28).

From Probolinggo go to Cemoro Lawang. There is only way by public vans called Bemos. Fare about 35,000 Rupiah ($2.5) to 50,000 Rupiah ($3.57). There is a entry fee entering the village Cemoro Lawang. It may cost 10,000 Rupiah ($0.71).

Cemoro Lawang is next to Mount Bromo. There are few basic hotels in Cemoro Lawang such as Camera Indah Hotel, Bromo Permai 1, Saputra View Bromo, Guesthouse Gunung Bromo and many others.

Visit Sea of Sand and Crater during the day and go to the viewpoints on sunrise. Cause all tourist goes to Sea of Sand and Crater after sunrise. So you will get free place there. To get there without paying 350,000 ($25) entrance fee, you have to go besides the hotel Cemara Indah road. You will see the parking lot and go right, down to the pathway that leads to the Sea of Sand. This road is free and shortcut.

Day-12:

There are many viewpoints located on the Penanjakan Hill. To go there, continue down the road. It will take you to the base camp of mount Bromo, and you will see a parking lot (It is also a viewpoint). Go up, you will find a lot of places to view Bromo sunrise. The top viewpoint is where all tourists go. so avoid it. There is a ticket fee for foreigner 218,000 Rupiah ($15.57) on weekdays and 320,000 Rupiah ($22.86) in weekends and public holidays. There is one slightly below view point is called King Kong viewpoint, where you can get the same view but with fewer tourists and without entry fee.
