Vic is the capital of the comarca (county) of Osona, in Barcelona province. Vic is 69 km from Barcelona and 60 km from Girona.


How to Reach Vic

Nearest airport from Vic is Girona-Costa Brava Airport (IATA: GRO). About 61 km away. But if you are coming from another country, then Barcelona El Prat Airport (IATA: BCN) will be the best for you. It is about 84 km from Vic.
I always use the following app to buy air tickets. Because this app shows the cheapest tickets on all airlines. I can buy tickets as per my requirement. Enter the country you are going to. Then enter your departure and arrival date. Click on search.



By Bus: The best way to get from Barcelona to Vic is to bus which takes 1.10 hour and fare 7-11 Euro ($7.6-11.94).
By Train: R3 from Barcelona to Vic.

Museum

Visiting Time: Tuesday to Friday - 10 AM to 1 PM and 4 PM 7 PM. Saturday, Sunday and Holiday - 11 PM to 2 PM. 24th and 31st December - 10 AM to 1 PM. Monday, 1st and 6tt January, Easter Sunday, 25th and 26th of December museum remains closed.
Entry Fee: 3 Euro ($3.26).
How to go: It is located at Carrer de l’Arquebisbe Alemany, 5 08500 Vic.

How to go: Opposite of Museum of Leather Artistry. A. Colomer. Located at Carrer de Jacint Verdaguer, 5.

Plaza Mayor

Square

It is the center of citizen life and all kinds of events and celebrations are held at this place. Open-air market held on every Tuesday and Saturday. A sculpture on the corner is one of the meeting points of local. The sculpture is dedicated to the most popular member of the Cap de Llupia family. There are a town hall and a Gothic building with a bell tower dating from 1388 on the southeast. Casa Comella on the southwest. a plaza with a statue and a circular bench on the northeast corner.
How to go: Besides Casa Comella.

La Casa de la Ciutat

A 14th century building where now the Tourist Office.
How to go: It is located at the southeast corner of Plaza Mayor.

Casa Cortada

Historical Landmark

It retains the original furniture and decoration with murals by Francesc Pla, El Vigata (1743 –1805), a Catalan painter.
How to go: Few meters from La casa de la ciutat townhall towards south.

Sant Miquel dels Sants de Vic

Historical Landmark

Saint Michael is considered a protector of cancer, children and midwives. He was born in this house in 1591 and died in Valladolid in 1625. So it was customary for parents to take their children to take the first steps in the chapel that was built in 1779.
How to go: Few meters from Casa Cortada towards south. It is located at Carrer Street Miquel dels Sants, 9.

Esglesia de Sant Just

It allowed higher education to continue in Vic. It is also the headquarters of the Institut del Teatre.
How to go: Turn right from Sant Miquel dels Sants de Vic. It is located on your left on C. Sant Just street.

Casa Fontcuberta

Landmark

The writer M. Àngels Anglada (1930 -1999) was born in this house. Now it is a restaurant.
How to go: From Esglesia de Sant Just, turn left and it is located at C. de la Riera, 25.

Hospital de la Santa Creu

Hospital

This was done in 1348 when the merchant Ramon de Terrades, a watchman, left his goods in the city to make a hospital for the sick, pedestrians and abandoned children. Which kept the two rooms, one for men and the other for women. The small bell tower indicates the place where the first chapel dedicated to the Holy Cross was located.
How to go: Few meters from Casa Fontcuberta towards south at Rbla street, 48.

Esglesia i Convent de Sant Domenec

It was used as a charity house and now the headquarters of the Vic School of Art.
How to go: East side of Hospital de la Santa Creu at Rbla. St. Domènec.

Esglesia de Sant Antoni Maria Claret

Church and Missionary

It was built in the mid-20th century. The congregation was founded by Saint Anthony Maria Claret in 1849. Next to the temple, there is the tomb of the saint.

How to go: About 250 meters from Pont de Queralt bridge toeards west.

It is the family home of the Bayés family of doctors. The current clinic was built in 16th century.
How to go: It is located at Pl. de la Catedral street.

El Bisbe Oliba

Sculpture

The sculpture was built in 2002 by D.Fita to pay tribute to Bishop Oliba (971-1046) next to the bell tower.

Vic Cathedral

Cathedral

It is said that the cathedral was built in 516. It was destroyed and It was rebuilt in 886.
How to go: It located besides of Museu Episcopal de Vic.

Palau Episcopal

Cultural Center

Inside, the Synod Room shows portraits of all the bishops who have passed through the Vigatana. Inside the entrance, there is Episcopal Archive and Library.

Pont de Queralt

Bridge

The bridge over the river Mder is the oldest and most notable of the Vigatans bridges. It was built in eleventh century and restored in 1472.
How to go: Near the Cathedral.

Les Adoberies

Tannery Quarter

At the beginning of the 19th century, there were up to 24 tanneries. Currently, the complex is declared an Asset of National Interest.
How to go: 80 meter from the north sided of Pont de Queralt bridge towards east.

It was the first hospital and charity in Vic.
How to go: Near the Cathedral.

It is an 18th century baroque building.

Visiting Time: Saturday - 10 AM to 7 PM. Sunday and holiday - 10 AM to 2 PM.  Monday, 1st and 6th January, Easter Monday, 25th and 26th December museum remains closed.
Visiting Time April to September: Tuesday to Friday - 10 AM to 7 PM.
Visiting Time October to March: Tuesday to Friday - 10 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 6 PM.
Entry Fee: 8 Euro ($8.68).
How to go: 100 meters walking distance from Roman temple towards southwest.

Some Jewish families settled here in the end of the 13th century, which have now disappeared.
How to go: It is located between Plaça de Malla and Carrer d’en Guiu.

In the 14th century, King Peter ordered the construction of the walls. The walls had forty towers and seven portals.

Monastery of Santa Teresa. It was built in the middle of the 17th century.

Landmarks

Between the 17th and 18th centuries the houses. With very wide doors and luxurious stairs leading to the main floor. The same style balconies.

The sculpture is a tribute to the seminary students and shows how they were dressed in the nineteenth century.

Casa Bojons

Museum

Jaume Balmes, the priest and philosopher of Catalonia was died here in 1848. The house room was converted into a small museum dedicated to his life and work.

Casa Masferrer

Landmark

The Masferrer family built it at the end of the 19th century. The Masferrer house is occupied today by municipal offices. The tower and the garden on the first floor stand out with the four figures that symbolize the four seasons of the year.

Casa de Ramon Sala i Saçala

The house of the veguer Saçala dates from the 15th century and stands out above all for its Gothic window on the façade.

How to go: About 3.5 km from town towards Southeast.
