Magura ( মাগুরা )
Magura is a district in Khulna Division of Bangladesh.

Magura is bounded by Rajbari district to the north, Jashore and Narail districts to the south, Faridpur district to the east and Jhenaidaha district to the west.

Magura district is divided into 4 upazila or sub districts (Magura Sadar, Mohammadpur, Shalikha, Sreepur).

Raja Sitaram Palace

In 1658, Raja Sitaram was born. The capital city and residence of Raja Sitaram was located in the Mohammadpur sub district, Magura. It is a place of glory in greater Jessore. Famous writer Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay wrote a Bangla novel "Sitaram", which is well-known to all Bangladeshi.
How to go: Go to Mohammadpur sub district then go to Rajbari by auto.


Vaater Vita

Historical Place

It was said that by local people, A saint, who has a miraculous power, began to build a mosque while traveling there. Rice cooking was completed but the construction work was not done at that time. In the meantime, it was dawn. Keep the construction work unfinished and the saint went away. At morning, people could see the unfinished mosque, cooked rice and rice water rolled out like a pond. After that the name of the place is Vaater Vita.
How to go: 12 Km away from Magura Town, at Moghi union on the bank of Fotoki river.


Siddheswari Moth

Hindu Temple

From this ancient era, there was a moth, rock and Kali Murti (Statue) were established. This place, full of deep forest, was a place of worship of the Saints. In the seventeenth century and earlier, people went to Kamakkha from this place. Because of that, many saints came to the place at that time. At the order of Brohmandogiri, living place for the saints was built and for this he donated 250 bighas of land. After the death of Bromandogiri, Siddheswari monastery was not attracted to the attention of the next kings. So the place becomes unusable. About two hundred years later, a Brahman saint named Amola Nanda came to the place and established the moth again. But Inadequate damage to the temple happened by the Pakistan army during the 1971 war of liberation. Later the temple rebuild by few people and set a statue in it.
How to go: Go to 3 Km away from Magura town at Atharokhada village on the bank of Norogonga river.


Sripur Jamidar Bari

History of zamidari is known to have been purchased from the Nawab alivardi kha. Sharoda Ranjan Pal Chowdhury established the zamidari here.
How to go: It is at Sripur sub-district.
