Jewish Quarter

Also known as Josefov. Jews were settled here in the early 10th century in a walled Ghetto (small area in a city where a small group of same community live). Jews were allowed to settle outside of the city. Jewish population started to decreased inside the Ghetto, only orthodox and poor Jews remained living there. Most of the quarter was demolished except Franz Kafka's birthplace, Vysoká synagoga, Jewish Town Hall (Židovská radnice), Klaus Synagogue, Maisel Synagogue, Pinkas Synagogue, Spanish Synagogue, Old Jewish Cemetery, Old New Synagogue, Jewish Ceremonial Hall.
