Sonadia
Sonadia Island is an island in Maheshkhali Upazila of Cox's Bazar district.
How to Reach Sonadia
You have to go by water. There is no local trawler from Cox's Bazar to Sonadia. So to go from Cox's Bazar you have to take a boat reservation. You can make a boat reservation from Cox's Bazar from two placesNumber 1: From Naziratek Ghat. Sonadia Island is located northwest of Naziratek.
Number 2: From Jetty No. 6.
The reserve boat fare will be charged on the day of your tour. If you leave in the morning and return in the afternoon, the fare will be 3000 Taka. And if you leave today and return the next day, the fare will be 6000 taka. The boat will drop you off and pick you up the next day. The bigger your team, the lower the per person cost. And if you are a solo traveler and don't mind spending so much money, this is the best option for you. And if you want to go cheap, I'll show you the third option.
For this, you will have to go from Jetty Ghat No. 6 in Cox's Bazar to Maheshkhali Gorakghata Ghat. Only one trawler leaves Sonadia at around 9 am and arrives at Ghotibhanga Ghat in Maheshkhali, and returns to Sonadia with passengers at around 10 am. And no trawler runs throughout the day. This time is not always the same. Depending on the tides, the time can vary. So, find out the approximate boat time from the person you are staying with in Sonadia a day before your trip. Now you have to go from Gorakghata Ghat to Ghotivanga Ghat. You will take a CNG directly to Ghativanga Ghat. It will cost 200 taka. Do not take an auto, take CNG as CNG runs faster.
Now if you don't want to spend 200 taka, then walk or take a rickshaw for 30/40 taka to the CNG station going to Ghativanga Ghat. Which is about 1 kilometer away from Gorakhata Ghat. There you will get CNG for 50 taka per person to Ghativanga Ghat. One problem here is that the CNG will not leave unless there are 5 passengers. So leave Cox's Bazar a little earlier, around 7 am. And remember, time is valuable, so if there are no passengers, you should leave with a reserve.
You can wait at the tea shop near the ghat since the sun is scorching outside.
There are two sites in Sonadia. One is in the eastern part and the other is in the western part. Two trawlers from both sides arrive at this pier at the same time in the morning and then leave again when they are full of passengers. Fare 50 Taka. No other trawlers operate, not even if you die. In that case, you have to bring a reserve boat. Rent is 3000 taka.
There is a Sonadia Government Primary School at Sonadia, where the boat will stop nearby.

Sonadia has a sea beach about 15 kilometers long. However, due to poor transportation system, there are no tourists here. Due to the north-west and south-east directions, one neighborhood is known as East Para and the other as West Para. There is lunch in both cases. Barbecue in the afternoon. Dinner and breakfast egg khichuri. There will also be a campfire at night. Their facebook Page.
