North Sikkim is a district of Indian state Sikkim. Mangan is the capital of North Sikkim district.

How to Reach North Sikkim

You can reach Mangan only from Gangtok by shared jeep, fare Rs.140. But you cannot travel after that without another permit.

Tourist Places in North Sikkim

You need valid reason to get another permit to travel beyond Singhik, just after Mangan. You may get a shared jeep to Lachen and Lachung but it’s rare. No shared vehicle is available beyond that to Gurudongmar Lake or Zero Point.

So the best way to travel from Gangtok to North Sikkim by one of the tour operator. They offer packages on sharing basis with permit for you. The most preferred 3D/2N tour from Gangtok costs approximately Rs.3000 per person with stay and meals.


Day-1:
The Package starts from Gangtok at 11 AM and reached at Chungthang at around 6 PM. This place is the place you’ll get last Mobile tower. On the way of Chungthang, 10 km after Singhik, there is falls called Naga Falls. There are two roads from Chungthang. One is Lachen and another is Lachung. Then it will take you to lachen another 1.5 hour. Stay night at hotel.


Day-2:
Early in the morning at 3 AM starts and reach Thangu Valley, the last village at 7 AM. At 7.30 AM you will reach at Gurudongmar Lake.
After that return to Lachen at 12 PM.This is lunch and rest time. By this time must visit Lachen Monastery at your own.
About 2 PM the journey start for Lachung via Chungthang break and reach Lachung at 5.30 PM. On the way you may see Bhim Nala Falls. At Lachung there is a Monastery, called Lachung Monastery. Visit there. Stay at night.


Day -3:
At 5 AM, they will take you Yumthung Valley at 7 AM. This is the valley of flower. So during season you will see flowers. This is the end of your journey. But pay your driver extra 500 Rs, to take you to Zero point. At 9 AM you will reach at Zero point. There is a lake near zero point. Try to visit if possible.
Then return to Lachun. After lunch the car will start for Gangtok at 2 PM. Around 7 PM you will reach at Gangtok.


For your next destination, you have to go Gangtok first.
