How to Reach Shillong
By Air: There is a small domestic airport at Umroi, about 35 km from Shillong. But very limited flights. Air India operates from Kolkata to Shillong.Another bigger and convenient airport is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Guwahati, which is 100 km from Shillong.
Buy a cheapest air-ticket from below site. This is my favorite site because it shows the different airline ticket prices of the same flight. So it makes easy for me to buy the lowest price ticket.
Type your travel airport name "Umroi" or "Guwahati" in Destination box. Select your depart and return date. If one-way, click on the 'X' in the return date box. Click on search.
By Train: There are no rail lines in Meghalaya. The nearest railway station is Guwahati. It is 100 km from Shillong
By Bus: No Bus Service between Shillong and Siliguri or Kolkata. But there are buses run from Siliguri to Guwahati.
So you can come to Guwahati from any other parts of India.
Guwahati to Shillong
There are available bus services run from Guwahati to Shillong.
Helicopter Service: Helicopter service is available from Guwahati to Shillong and from Shillong to Guwahati daily except Sunday.
From Guwahati to Shillong two helicopter flights are available at 9 AM and 12 PM.
From Shillong to Guwahati these helicopter stars at 9.40 AM and 1.05 PM.
It takes about 20 minutes to reach one place to another.
Helicopter fare for adult Rs.1500 and child (age 2-12) Rs.1000.
From Bangladesh: there is a bus service Shamoly Paribahan, direct goes to Shillong from Dhaka via Sylhet and Dawki border.

Spread Eagle Falls
WaterfallHow to go: 6 km from Shillong Cantonment. Near Umkaliar Bus Stop and Demseiñ-Ïong Bus Stop. Distance between two bus stops is about 200 meters. It is about 700 meters walking distance from Demseiñ-Ïong Bus Stop.

Capt. Williamson Sangma State Museum
MuseumHistorical exhibitions on the local Meghalaya tribes.
Visiting Time: 10 AM to 4 PM. Sunday remains closed.
Entry Fee: Rs.5.
How to go: Just opposite of All Saints Church.
Lady Hydari Park
ParkAlso known as Phan Nonglait Park.
Visiting Time: 8 AM to 5 PM. Monday remains closed.
Entry Fee: Rs.10 for Person and Rs.10 for Camera.
How to go: Just 400 meters walking distance from All Saint’s Church or Williamson Museum.
Air Force Museum
MuseumVisiting Time: 9.30 AM to 5 PM. Monday remains closed.
Entry Fee: No entry or camera fee. You need to submit ID proof while entering.
How to go: About 8 km from Lady Hydari Park. It is situated at 7th mile, HQ, EAC, Shillong.
Elephant Falls
WaterfallHow to go: Walking distance from Air Force Museum.
If you have time you can visit Canyon, otherwise leave it.
Laitlum Grand Canyon
Natural SceneryThere is a village Rasong. There is a ropeway pulley that use to transport food and others for the villagers. There is a about 3000 steps stairway that leads to Rasong. This path is the only way of villagers can go to the nearest market. If the pulley is out of order, the villagers physically carry out their foods in traditional large baskets. There is a wooden bridge nearby. Must visit this place.
How to go: It is about 23 km from Shillong. First you have to go to Sawlad Bus Stop and then drive to Smit Road and then to Jongsha mawkynrew road and Then Unmed Road which is the last motorable point before the canyons and walk to Laitkyrhong.
Day-2: Cherrapunji
Early in the morning go to Cherrapunji. If you don’t have heavy luggage then stop at Laitmawsiang, Laitryngew before Cherrapunji. If you have heavy luggage, then go to hotel and come back again. Take breakfast and start visiting.

Garden of Caves
CaveKnown by the locals as Ka Bri Ki Synrang.

Wah-kaba Falls
WaterfallHow to go: About 2 km from Laitryngew towards Cherrapunji.
Arwah Cave
CaveVisiting Time: 9.30 AM to 5.30 PM every day.
Ticket Price: 20 INR for Adult and 10 INR for Child. There is also guide available. If you want you can hire. They have no fixed price. Pay whatever you want.
How to go: About 3.5 km from Laitryngew towards Cherrapunji.

Day-3: Pamramdah
Lyngksiar Falls
WaterfallHow to go: You have to go to Pamramdah Village near Dainthlen Falls after Nohkalikai village from Cherrapunji. About 5.5 km drive from Pamradah towards Shillong at mawkama village.
Janailar Falls
WaterfallHow to go: About 800 meters from Lyngksiar Falls towards Pamramdah village.
Mawsawa Falls
WaterfallHow to go: About 1.2 km from Janailar Falls towards Pamramdah village.
Dainthlen Falls
WaterfallHow to go: It is about 2 km from Mawsawa Falls at Pamramdah village
Wei Sawdong

Nohkalikai Falls
WaterfallNohkalikai Falls is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Its height is 1115 feet. It is said that this falls is the world’s fourth highest falls.
Day-4: Nongriat
Early in the morning leave hotel. This is trekking time. If you have heavy luggage you can keep the room or keep your gears in hotel locker if available. Then check shared jeep goes to Tyrna village from Cherrapunji. Private taxi always available. Fare 300-500 as per your bargaining power. Local guide are available but you don’t need. It is straightforward trek.
Living Root Bridge
BridgeHow to go: Drive from Cherrapunji to Tyrna. Tyrna is the last motorable road. Descent walk about 3.5 km through stairway. At the end of stairway you have to walk few minutes and will reach a place where you get small shop and the Living Root Bridge. After crossing the Living Root Bridge walk 5 minutes, you will get another bridge. The other side is Norgiate village.
Double Decker Living Root Bridge
BridgeHow to go: After crossing 2nd Root Bridge, climb stairs to reach the main village. After reaching here you will see the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. The other side is hotel.
Entry Fee: Rs.20 just before crossing the double Decker root bridge.
Rainbow Falls
WaterfallHow to go: There are two accommodations in Nongriat. Serene Homestay and Village Guest House. Rent Rs.200-400. From the hotel 1.5 hour ascend and descend walk. You will see another bridge. Cross the bridge and walk few minutes, you will reach at Rainbow Falls.
Day-5: Cherrapunji
Early in the morning come back to Tyrna. If you have heavy luggage, then you have to go to Cherrapunji, Take your hotel and come to the visit. If you don’t have heavy luggage you can start from Tyrna.
Kynrem Falls
WaterfallKynrem Falls, located at a distance of 12 km from Cherrapunji and about 12 km from Tyrna.
There is place Wahrew Bridge situated 4 km away from Khoh Ramhah. You can visit there if you have time and private vehicle. Otherwise leave it.
Khoh Ramhah
Also known as Pillar Rock or Mothorp. Giant cone shape rock and waterfall.
How to go: About 7 km from Kynrem Falls
Thangkharang Park
ParkVisiting Time: 7 AM to 4 PM. Wednesday remains closed.
Entry Fee: Rs.10 for adult and Rs.5 for below 12 years age. Rs.20 for Camera, Rs.200 for Video Camera.
How to go: The park is about 1.5 km from the Khoh Ramhah toward Cherrapunji.
Mawsmai Cave
CaveEntry Fee: Rs.20
Visiting Time: 7 AM to 4 PM.
How to go: About 6.5 km from Thangkharang Park toward Cherrapunji.
Seven Sisters Falls
WaterfallAlso known as Nohsngithiang Falls.
How to go: It is situated few kilometers from Mawsmai caves.
Nongthymmai Eco Park
ParkVisiting Time: 9 AM to 5 PM every day.
Entry Fee: Rs.20.
Day-6: Dawki
Early in the morning start for Dawki. Dawki has the border with Bangladesh.
Krang Shuri Waterfall
WaterfallHow to go: It is about 19 km from Jowai towards Dawki. About 15 km from Dawki towards Jowai.
You may get package from Dawki. 3 places @Rs.850. If found grab it. Cause Public transport is not available at Dawki.
Dawki Umngot River
RiverCrystal Clear Blue River. You can hire boat. Cost about Rs.400. Just bargain.
Mawlynnong Village
VillageThis is the cleanest village in Asia.
How to go: About 15 km away from Dawki. You can hire private taxi from Shillong to Mawlynnong to Shillong. It may cost Rs.2500 or less.
Living Root Bridge
BridgeIt is said that the bridge is 250-400 years old.
How to go: Near Mawlynnong Village.
For your next destination to catch the air, bus and train, you can go to Guwahati, Assam. If your destination is Kolkata, you can go from Shillong Airport.
