Most of the tourists live near at this street area, also known as Backpacker Area. Bui Vien Street is also known as a Backpacker Street is a pedestrian street. Everyday people lose cameras, cellphones, etc. So careful about that too.
How to go: The street starts from 250 meters from Ben Thanh Main Station towards southwest.

Cu Chi Tunnels - Ben Duoc

The Cu Chi Tunnel covers 75 miles of underground area was built during the anti-American and anti-French fighting from 1940s to 1960s. The tunnels were dug by the villagers and soldiers to protect themselves. Where they were continued to sleep, eat, plan for attacks. More than 10,000 lost their lives too.
You can only visit 2 sections, the Ben Dinh and Ben Duoc. Truth is that, Ben Dinh specially made for tourists and it were never part of the tunnel network.
Ben Dinh tunnels is around 50 km from Ho Chin Minh City towards northwest where most of tourists visit. Ben Duoc tunnels located around 15 km northwest from Ben Dinh and north end of Ho chi Minh municipality.
Visiting Time: 8 AM to 5 PM.
Entry Fee: 90,000 Dong ($3.9) for Ben Duoc Tunnels includes a guide.
Shooting Range: The bullets are sold in sets and each set has 10 bullets.

How to go: By bus No-13 from 'September 23rd Park' (near Pham Ngu Lao Street or Backpacker area). It take around 1.5 hours to reach Cu Chi Bus Station. Fare 10,000 Dong ($0.43). From Cu Chi Bus station, by another Bus No-79 go to Ben Duoc Tunnels. It will take 50 minutes and fare 7,000 Dong ($0.3). Bus 79 last bus return at 5.30 PM. You also can go by private water boat. There are 2 agencies but go only Ben Dinh area.


Ben Duoc Temple

It was built on December 19, 1975 to memorialize the soldiers and people who were killed during the anti-American and anti-French fighting.
How to go: It is located north side of Ben Duoc Tunnels.
Inside the premises: Three-door temple gate, The inscription house, The main temple, The tower, Flower garden, Basement (contains 9 spaces presents different historical period).

Independence Palace

A Palace named 'Norodom Palace' was built in 1873. It was occupied by the first president of South Vietnam, Ngo Dinh Diem. A wing of the palace was damaged by bomb in 1962.
President Diem ordered to build a more modern palace. The President Diem was killed in 1963 before the palace construction was completed.
The palace was was completed on 31 October, 1966. General Nguyen Van Thieu, the second president of South Vietnam, moved into the palace in 1967. He changed the name to 'Independence Palace'.
On April 30, 1975, a North Vietnamese tank crashed through the palace gates. The Vietnam War ended at the 'Independence Palace' gates.
Visiting Time: 7.30 AM to 4 PM every day.
Entry Fee: 40,000 Dong ($1.74).
How to go: It is located east side of Tao Dan Park at 135 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street in District 1.
Inside the Premises: Presidential office, receiving room, bedrooms are furnished with antique furniture. In the basement there is a command bunker with old radio equipment and strategy maps on the walls.
In the courtyard, there is a room filled with historic photos portraying the fall of the Independence Palace.
From the fourth floor rooftop, the view of the palace grounds with an old US UH-1 helicopter.
Two original Russian T-54 tanks are located at the exit gate.


Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon

The first wooden church was started to build on 28 March 1863 and completed in 1965. The church was damaged. The present church was started to build on 7 October 1877. It was completed on Easter Day, 11 April 1880. All building materials were imported from France.

How to go: 45 km from city center. By bus-20 at Ben Thanh Bus Station to Binh Khanh Ferry. After the ferry trip, Another bus 'Binh Khanh – Can Thanh' and drop off at Cau Dan Xay Bridge to arrive at Vam Sat Station. Sailboat may leave early in the morning direct from Bach Dang Wharf in District 1.

How to go: By bus-20 at Ben Thanh Bus Station to Binh Khanh Ferry. After the ferry trip, Another bus 'Binh Khanh – Can Thanh' and drop off at Monkey Island. From Vam Sat Eco Park come to Cau Dan Xay Bridge. From there monkey island is about 9.6 km. So by Can Thanh bound bus, get of at monkey island.

Ao Dai Museum

Visiting Time: Tuesday to Sunday - 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM. Monday remains closed.

How to go: Bus 88 runs from Ben Thanh Market to Long Phuoc Market and passes the Ao Dai Museum at 206/19, 30 Long Thuan, Long Phuoc in District 9.


Khu Du Lich The BCR

Suoi Tien Cultural Amusement Park

Visiting Time: Monday to Friday - 8 AM to 5.30 PM. Saturday and Sunday - 8 AM to 6 PM.
Entry Fee: 90,000 Dong ($3.9) for adult. 45,000 Dong ($1.95) for child.
How to go: It is located about 18 km from city center at 120 Ha Noi Highway, Tan Phu Ward in District 9.


Buu Long Pagoda

Pagoda

The pagoda was built in 1942.
Visiting Time: 9 AM to 11 AM and 2 PM to 9 PM.
Entry Fee: Free.
How to go: It is located about 4 km from Suoi Tien Cultural Amusement Park towards east at 81 Nguyen Xien, Long Binh in District 9.
