National Monument to the Forefathers

150-foot-tall structure was built on August 1, 1889 to commemorate the Mayflower Pilgrims. Mayflower was an English ship that transported a group of English families, known today as the Pilgrims. With about 65 passengers, Mayflower left London in mid-July 1620 and arrived in Southampton, Hampshire. From there, Mayflower and another ship, Speedwell, set sail for the United States on August 5. On the way, "Speedwell" ship technical problem, both ships returned to Plymouth, England, where 20 Speedwell passengers joined the now overcrowded Mayflower. Mayflower sailed alone from Plymouth, England on September 16, 1620 with 102 passengers and about 30 crew. Mayflower arrived in Plymouth, United States on November 21, 1620, after a severe storm at sea.
They had to survive unprepared through a harsh winter. As a result, only 53 of the original Pilgrims survived the first winter at Plymouth, United States. The following year, with the help of the local people, they celebrated the first harvest (an occasion that was declared the first American Thanksgiving after a century).
Mayflower set sail for England on April 15, 1621, and arrived in London on May 16, 1621.

Plymouth Antiquarian Society

The house was built in 1809 for William Hammatt and was originally located on Court Street. The Hedges family purchased the house in 1830 and lived there until 1919. It was moved to Water Street by the Antiquarian Society in 1919.

Mayflower II is a replica ship of Mayflower. Mayflower II was built and launched on September 22, 1956.

Plymouth Rock

Mayflower Pilgrims founded the Plymouth Colony in December 1620. The first written document of Plymouth Rock is dated 1715.
In 1774, the rock broke in half while trying to move to Town Square in Plymouth. The portion taken in Town Square was moved to the Pilgrim Hall Museum in 1834. It is reattached to another part of the rock, which was in its original location on the shores of Plymouth Harbor in 1880. The date 1620 was inscribed at that time. It is estimated that about one-third of the original rock remains today.

How to go: It started from Billington Sea, and passes through numerous small ponds, including Deep Water Pond and Jenny Pond. It also passes by the Plimoth Grist Mill and the Brewster Gardens and finally ends at Plymouth Harbor.

How to go: It is located about 20 meters from Jenney Interpretive Center towards northwest at 42 Summer Street.

First Parish in Plymouth

The congregation was founded in the English community of Scrooby (small village in north Nottinghamshire, England) in 1606 by the Pilgrims (The Pilgrims were the English settlers who came to North America on the Mayflower in 1620 and established the Plymouth Colony in what is today Plymouth, Massachusetts). A fort was built on Burial Hill from 1621. In 1648 the first church buildings on the town square was constructed. Later churches were built in 1684, 1744, and 1831. Current building was built in 1899.

1749 Court House Museum

The Old County Courthouse was built in built in 1749. In the 1970s it was converted into a museum.

Jabez Howland House

The house was built in 1667 by Jacob Mitchell. It was bought by Mayflower passengers John Howland and Elizabeth's son Jabez Howland. They owned the house until 1915. It was repaired in 1940s.
How to go: It is located about 200 meters from Brewster Gardens towards south at 33 Sandwich Street.


Harlow Old Fort House

The house was built in 1677 by Sergeant William Harlow. The Harlow family owned the house for nearly 250 years. Then Plymouth Antiquarian Society acquired the building, restored and opened it to the public in 1921.
How to go: It is located about 450 meters from Jabez Howland House towards southeast at 119 Sandwich Street.
