L'Usine means Factory. It is the venue and nightclub in Geneva.

Victoria Hall

Concert Hall

The Victoria Hall was built in 1891–1894 by British consul, Daniel Fitzgerald Packenham Barton, who dedicated it to Queen Victoria.
Later it was gifted to the City of Geneva in 1904. On 16 September 1984, the building was partly destroyed by a fire and rebuilt.
How to Go: It is located east side of Cirque Transit stop towards northwest.


Beth Yaakov Synagogue

It was built between 1858 and 1859 for the Jewish community. It is said that 200 people worked at the time to built this Synagogue.

Reformation Wall

Monumental Wall

The Wall was inaugurated in 1909 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of John Calvin's (founder of University of Geneva) birth and the 350th anniversary of the university's establishment. The sculptures were built into the old city walls by two French sculptors: Paul Landowski and Henri Bouchard.
At the centre of the monument, four 5 meter-tall statues are depicted:
William Farel (1489–1565), John Calvin (1509–1564), Theodore Beza (1519–1605), John Knox (c.1513–1572).


To the left (facing the Wall, ordered from left to right) of the central statues are 3 meter-tall statues of:
Frederick William of Brandenburg (1620–1688), William the Silent (1533–1584), Gaspard de Coligny (1519–1572).


To the right (ordered from left to right) are 3 metre-tall statues of:
Roger Williams (1603–1684), Oliver Cromwell (1599–1658), Stephen Bocskai (1557–1606).

Promenade de la Treille

Promenade where Banc de la Treille, The world's longest wooden bench is located. It is 120 meters long.

Palais Eynard Jean-Gabriel

Palace

Banker Jean-Gabriel Eynard returned to Geneva in 1816 from Italy and started to build the palace inspired by Italian palazzi.
The City of Geneva purchased the palace in 1891 for the Natural History Museum.
The building was renovated between 1981 and 1986. It is use only by officials to accommodate their weekly meetings of the departments of the municipal corporation of Geneva. The venue is also given up for hire for wedding receptions.
Visiting Time: Monday to Friday - 8 AM to 12:30 PM. 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Saturday to Sunday remains closed.
How to Go: It is located about 100 meters southeast of Reformation Wall and east side of University of Geneva.


Palais de l'Athénée

Landmark

The building was built in 1863 by the banker Jean-Gabriel Eynard and his wife Anna Eynard-Lullin. The International Committee of the Red Cross was founded here in 1863. Other institutions such as the International Committee of Historical Sciences, the International Union for the Relief of Children and the Swiss Society of Chronometry were also created here.
On the first floor, the Jules Crosnier room regularly presents exhibitions of young artists with promising talents. The secretariat of the Société des Arts and the Palais de l'Athénée, as well as the archives, are located on the mezzanine.
How to Go: It is located at the south of Palais Eynard Jean-Gabriel.

Iconography Center of the Library of Geneva

Bibliothèque de Genève (Library of Geneva) was founded by Calvin in 1559. Today it welcomes its visitors and readers at four sites - The main site in Parc des Bastions, the Musée Voltaire, La Musicale and the Centre d’iconographie.
The Center d’iconographie was founded in 1993. It contains almost 4 million images.

The church was built in 1866. The fund was given by Grand Duchess Anna Feodorovna of Russia (23 September 1781 – 12 August 1860). She was the princess of Germany, became the wife of Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich of Russia.
How to Go: It is located about 320 meters from Muséum d'histoire naturelle towards west and 130 meters from Museum of Far Eastern Art towards north at Rue Rodolphe-Toepffer 9.

Calvin Auditorium

Chapel

originally known as the Notre-Dame-la-Neuve Chapel was constructed in the 15th century. From 1536, it became a lecture hall. . In 1559, it served as the home of the University of Geneva.
The auditorium was restored from 1954 to 1959. In 1963, an organ built by Gruaz. The new organ was installed in April 2014.
How to Go: It is located about 50 meters from Place Bourg-de-Four square towards west.


St Pierre Cathedral

Place du Molard

Square

The square offers top class shopping, hotels and restaurants.
Hundreds of paving stones are scattered throughout the square, glowing in the evening after sunset. Every lighted stone has a word written on it in the different languages.
The Molard Tower on the square was built in 1591 and open to the public. Lenin arrived to Geneva after being imprisoned for 3 years in Siberia. At years 1903-1905 and 1907-1908 Lenin was living in Geneva.
How to Go: It is located about 150 meters from the south end of Puente de Mont-Blanc bridge towards south crossing Rue du Rhône and 150 meters from Museo Barbier-Mueller towards northeast.



Day-7:

Villa Diodati

Mansion

The villa was built around 1710.
Debt forced Lord Byron (English Poet) to leave England. Byron arrived in Lake Geneva in May 1816, where he met the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Byron settled in Villa Diodati from 10 June 1816. Shelley rented a small house nearby called "Maison Chapuis" with his future wife Mary Shelley. The group was joined by Mary's stepsister Clare Clairmont, with whom Byron had an affair in London. After Byron's death on 19 April 1824, Villa Diodati soon became a place of pilgrimage for Byron fans and Romanticism. The villa remains in private ownership.
How to Go: The village of Cologny has a bus connection with Geneva. But the villa is in private property. So you can see it from outside.


Pontons du quai de Cologny

Parc de La Grange

Park

The Lullin family was built the manor house between 1768 and 1773 and laid out a French garden. The villa was used as a summer residence.
Ownership passed from Lullin to the Favre family. They have been converted into houses and parks. They built a pond and rock garden. They also built the entrance, pergola, orangery and library in 1821. The library contains Guillaume Favre's book collection with around 15,000 works.
The property was donated to the city of Geneva in 1917 by William Favre. A year later, he bequeathed the library to the city of Geneva. The grand rose garden was planted in 1945.

The National Monument was inaugurated in 1869 to commemorate the entry of Geneva into the Swiss Confederation on 12th September 1814.

Puente de Mont-Blanc

250 meters long Mont Blanc Bridge was inauguration in 1862. On the National Map of Switzerland, the water on its left is indicated as river Rhône and the water on its right is indicated as Lake Geneva.
How to Go: The south end of the bridge is located west side of Jardin Anglais Park.


Rue du Rhône

About 1 km east-west shopping street.
How to Go: The street starts from from Place des Eaux-Vives square (east end) to Place de Bel-Air square (west end).


Tour de l'Île

Tower

'Tour de l'Île' means 'Tower on The Island', that was completed in 1219.
The clock on the top of the tower was instaled in 1538. It was replaced in 1682 and 1858.

Broken Chair

12 meters (39 feet) high giant wooden chair with a broken leg.
A 10 meters high chair, with a torn-off leg was first installed at this place on 18th of August 1997.
It was removed in 2005 to allow for extensive remodeling of the Place des Nations. After the work was completed, it was reinstalled on 26 February 2007 in the same place.

Musée Ariana

Palais des Nations

The building was built between 1929 and 1938 for the League of Nations. It has served as the home of the United Nations Office at Geneva since 1946.
How to Visit: You can visit this palace but need to book at least 3 months in advance. You have to apply for booking here first.
There are 2 types of booking. 1 is group tour request which is minimum 15 people. 60 minutes tour cost 16 Francs ($16.93) for adult, 13 Francs ($13.75) for University students, senior citizens and disabled persons. 10 Francs ($10.54) for child age 6-17. Another is Private VIP Tour for 60 minutes cost 280 Francs ($296.20).
When you will get Tickets then you have to register from here, where you have to provide your information and photo.
On tour day, you must attend at the Pregny Gate 45 minutes before your tour. Submit identity (ID card or Passport).
How to Go: It is located east of International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and north of Musée Ariana.


Parc de l'Ariana

Penthes Castle

The property is first recorded in 1358 as belonging to Guillaume de Visencier. In the 17th century, the property owner was Antoine de Charrière, lord of Penthaz. It is named after him. He sold the property to the Geneva General Hospital in 1761. It was sold to Alexandre Sales de Genève, who converted the fortified house into a manor.
In 1972, Geneva Canton purchased the property. A museum and a research center were built in 1978. The City of Geneva acquired the estate in 1983 and turned it into a public park.
