Lalmonirhat is a district in Rangpur Division in Bangladesh.

Lalmonirhat is bounded by West Bengal state of India on the north, Rangpur district on the south, Kurigram district and West Bengal of India on the east, Nilphamari and Rangpur districts on the west.

During the reign of Maharaja Pran Narayan, in 1634 AD, Murari Dev Ghosal Bhatracharya, arrived at Koch Bihar from Jai Nagar of 24 Porgona / Kolkata. Queen of Koch Bihar donated him a land to stay.But Murari Dev Ghosal Bhatracharya was uninterested to take the land free of cost. He Applied for a rent receipt for the given property. Queen finally agreed to accept rice husk as a rent. So, the husk was collected and stored on the east side of the zamidar house. Later it was sent to the Rajbari of Koch Bihar as a rent.

The largest enclaves of Bangladesh, in the border of Patgram sub district in Larmonirhat is "Dohogram and Angorpota", inside the area of India.
How enlaves created: Long long ago, during Maghal Era, king of Koch Bihar, India and king of Rangpur, Bangladesh played card or chess games and as result loser gave his little territories to winner. Later Maghals remained the places without determining a boundary for what territories had been gained or lost. Later during the partition of India and East Pakistan, these territories remain unsolved. After the liberation war, East Pakistan became independent as Bangladesh in 1971. The Land Boundary Agreement was signed between Indira Gandhi and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 16 May 1974. Under the agreement, India retained the 12 No. Berubari Union enclave while Bangladesh retained the Dahagram-Angorpota exclaves with India providing access to it by giving a 178 / 85 metre corridor, called the "Tin Bigha Corridor". On 6 June 2015, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, signed the instruments of the land exchange.
