Carmichael College

Carmichael College is an educational institution in Rangpur, Bangladesh. It was established on 10 November 1916 and was named after Thomas David Baron Carmichael of Skirling.
The college is situated in Lalbag, 4 kilometres to the south from zero point of the Rangpur town. It is the largest college of Bangladesh.


Taajhaat Jomidaar Baari (তাজহাট জমিদার বাড়ি)

Tajhat Palace, Tajhat Rajbari, is a historic palace of Bangladesh, located in Tajhat, Rangpur.
The palace was built by Maharaja Kumar Gopal Lal Roy in the beginning of the 20th century. It is believed that from the conspicuous appearance of his Taj or jeweled crown, his estate derived the name of Tajhat.
From 1984 to 1991 the palace was used as a Rangpur High Court Branch of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. In 1995 the palace was declared as a protected monument by the Department of Archaeology.
Visiting Time: Tajhat Palace is open for the visitors Saturday to Friday from 10AM to 6PM. Sunday closed
Entry Fee: 20 Taka for locals and 200 Taka for foreigners.
How to go: It is located just 3 km outside of the Rangpur city. So you can take a bus ride from city to Tajhat.

Itakumari Jamider Bari

The first zamidar of Itakumari was Raja Roy. His eldest son, Shiv Chandra established zamidarbari of Itakumari in the nineteenth century.
How to go: Its in Itakumari Union in Pirgachha Sub-district.

Tin Katarer Mosque

The mosque is built by Sheikh Mohammad Aasar in 1810.
How to go: It's in Mitha Pukur Sub-district.

Begum Rokeya (বেগম রোকেয়া) House

Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, commonly known as Begum Rokeya (9 December 1880 – 9 December 1932), was a Bengali writer, educationist, social activist, and advocate of women's rights.
In 1909, Rokeya established a high school in her beloved husband's memory, naming it Sakhawat Memorial Girls' High School. It started in Bhagalpur. A dispute with her husband's family over property forced her to move the school in 1911 to Calcutta. It remains one of the city's most popular schools for girls and is now run by the state government of West Bengal.
Rokeya also founded the Anjuman e Khawateen e Islam (Islamic Women's Association), which was active in holding debates and conferences regarding the status of women and education.
Begum Rokeya wrote in a number of genres, short stories, poems, essays, novels and satirical writings, developing a distinctive literary style, characterised by creativity, logic and a wry sense of humour. She started writing in the Nabanoor from about 1903, there is an opinion that her first published writing Pipasha appeared in the Nabaprabha in 1902.
Rokeya remained busy with the school, the association, and her writings for the rest of her life. She died of heart problems on 9 December 1932.
How to go: You have to go to Mithapukur Sub-district by bus. From there by auto go to payrabond village.
