Howrah Bridge

Howrah Bridge was built in 1943 over Hooghly River to connect between Kolkata and Howrah district. It renamed Rabindra Setu on 14th June 1965. But it is still popular as Howrah Bridge.
It is said that Howrah Bridge is famous for its’ massive steel structure which is considered as one of the longest cantilever bridges of its type in the world.
Remember that, photo session on Howrah Bridge is strictly prohibited.
How to go: From anywhere you can go to Howrah Bridge by bus.


Howrah Railway Station

Train Station

Also known as Howrah Junction. It is the oldest and largest existing railway complex in India. It is one of the busiest train stations in the world, serving more than one million passengers per day. It was built and opened in 1854.
It is the main hub to go any other part of India by train.
How to go: From Howrah by bus. It is located about 150 meters from the west end of Howrah Bridge towards south.

Visiting Time: 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Entry Fee: 10 Rupee ($0.13).
How to go: It is located south of Howrah station (new complex) and about 500 meters from Howrah station near Howrah Ghat towards southwest.


Belilious Park

Visiting Time: Tuesday to Sunday - 10 AM to 8 PM. Monday remains closed.
Entry Fee: 75-200 Rupee ($1.01-2.7).
How to go: It is located about 2.2 km from Howrah station towards northwest through rail line at 129, Belilious Road, Tikiapara, Howrah. Nearest train stoppage at Tikiapara.

Anand Niketan Kirtishala

How to go: It is located about 850 meters from Eco Park Dumurjola at 40, 1, Ram Charan Sett Road, Shibpur, Howrah.

How to go: It is located about 2.2 km from Belilious Park towards southwest at 1, Dr Bholanath Chakraborty Sarani, Ichapur, Howrah.

Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Botanic Garden

Commonly known as the Calcutta Botanical Garden and previously as the Royal Botanic Garden, Calcutta.
The gardens were founded in 1787 by Colonel Robert Kyd, an army officer of the East India Company. Botanist William Roxburgh became superintendent of the garden in 1793 and a major change was occurred.
Visiting Time: 8 AM to 4 PM every day.
Entry Fee: 10 Rupee
($0.13) for Indian. 100 Rupee ($1.3) for foreigner.
Camera Fee: 20 Rupee
($0.27) for camera. Whether it’s a mobile camera or another, you use it or not.
How to go: It is located about 2.88 km from the north end of Vidyasagar Setu.
Inside the Premises:
The Great Banyan: The banyan tree is consider to be the largest tree in the world.
Roxburgh House: The building named after him was constructed around1794, and although initially it served as Roxburgh’s residence, he subsequently constructed a plant house and the library in the dilapidated house opposite it. Roxburgh was a pionee.


Andul rajbari

How to go: From Howrah station by train, go to Andul Station. Then by a rickshaw to Andul Palace.



Day-4:

Loknath Baba Temple

How to go: It is located about 1.8 km from Howrah Bridge towards north. By bus from Howrah bus stop near bridge, get off at Salkia A. S. High School stop. Then walk right (east) to the temple at kharda Bamunpara, Munshirhat, Howrah. By boat from Howrah ghat, get off at Chhatu Babu Ghat. Then walk towards north to the temple.

Bangeswar Mahadeb Temple

How to go: It is located about 2 km from west end of Howrah Bridge towards north. About 180 meters from Loknath Baba Temple towards north at Babudanga, Bandhaghat, Howrah.

Seth Bansidhar Jalan Smriti Mandir

Also called Noya Temple. 51 feet lord shiva statue there.
How to go: It is located besides Bangeswar Mahadeb Temple.


Shree Shyam Mandir Ghusuridham

How to go: It is located about 1.8 km from Bangeswar Mahadeb Temple towards northeast and about 2 km from Belur Math towards south at 122, Jogendranath Mukherjee Rd, Vivekananda Colony, Ghusuri, Howrah.

Belur Math

Belur Math is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission and Math. It is founded by Swami Vivekananda (12 January 1863 – 4 July 1902). Swami Vivekananda arrived in Baranagar in the beginning of 1897 and was founded a monastery.
Swami Vijnanananda was a direct disciple of Ramakrishna. He was an engineer and was the President of Belur Math, laid the foundation stone on 13 March 1929. It was completed in 1938.
There is a also Ramakrishna Museum. Belur Math is open for visitors but photography restricted.
Visiting Time: 8 AM to 11 AM and 4 PM to 5.45 PM.
Entry Fee: Free.
How to go: It is situated at Howrah district. There are several buses go to Dakkhineswar Temple from Howrah Bus station near Howrah Bridge via Belur Math bus stop. Fare Rs. 8. From Bus stop you can walk though right hand side Belur Math Road. At the end of the road after 500 meters walk turn left to the Math.
Or from Armenian Ghat near Mullik Ghat Flower Market you can ride on the boat to Belur Math Ghat. From Belur Math Ghat you have to come to road and turn first right side road and walk 240 meters to Belur Math back gate.
