Noakhali is a district in Chattogram Division in South-eastern Bangladesh. Earlier name of Noakhali was Bhulua, was established in 1821. It was named Noakhali in 1868.

Noakhali District is bordered by Cumilla district to the north, the Bay of Bengal to the south, Feni and Chittagong districts to the east and Lakshmipur and Bhola district to the west.

Noakhali District is divided into 9 Upazila or sub-districts (Noakhali Sadar, Begumganj, Chatkhil, Companiganj, Senbagh, Hatiya, Kabirhat, Sonaimuri, Suborno Char).

Bojra Mosque

Historical Architecture

Mughal zamidar Aman Ullah Khan built the Bajra Shahi mosque in 1741, which is approximately three hundred years ago.
How to go: From Maizdi, Noakhali Main town go by Shonaimuri bus. On the way Bojra Hospital. From there Bojra Mosque is walking distance.


Musapur Closer

How to go: From Noakhali, go to Boshurhat. Then go to Bangla Bazar. Then South Chowdhury Bazar and 2 Km away 4 way junction. Turn East to Jonota Bazar. Then Turn South, 1.5 Km away Musapur Closer.

Hatiya

Island

How to go: From Maizdi, Noakhali Main town go to Shonapur bus stand. From there go to Chairman Ghat by bus. Then go to Nolchira Ghaat by launch. This is Hatiya Island.

Nijhum Dip

Island

In the 1940s the island started to rise from the Bay of Bengal. In the late 40's, the Nijhoddeep became fit for grassland or grazing. Fishermen of Hatiya discover the Nijhumu Dip during fishing. In the mid-fifties, pepole started to live in Nijhum Dip. From the beginning of the 80's, this island has been known as the Nijhum Island for the people of Bangladesh. There are habitations of about 3000 acres of entire Nijhum Island and the remaining areas have mangrove forests.
How to go: From Maizdi, Noakhali Main town go to Shonapur bus stand. From there go to Chairman Ghat by bus. Then go to Nolchira Ghaat by launch. Then by auto, go to Jahajmara Ghaat. Then by boat go to Nijhum Island
.
