Cumilla former spelling was Comilla is a metropolitan city in Chattogram Division, Bangladesh, located along the Dhaka - Chittagong Highway. 'Comilla' spelling is still popular, so we are using here this.

Comilla is bordered by Brahmanbaria and Narayanganj districts to the north, Noakhali and Feni districts to the south, Tripura State of India to the east and Munshiganj and Chandpur districts to the west.

Famous for Roshomalai of Matrivander and Khadi Dress. National Poet in Bangladesh - Kazi Nazrul Islam, spent the most of his life time in Comilla.

How to Reach Comilla

There are several bus goes to different places at comilla from Dhaka.

AC bus "Royal Coach" leaves from Komlapur. Fare 1st two row Seat 320 Taka & from 3rd row fare 250 Taka. It goes to  Jangalia via Poduar Bazar Bishsho Road.

Non AC bus Tisha & Asia Line leaves from Saydabad Bus Terminal, Dhaka and goes to Shaashon Gaasa fare 180 Taka. Tisha also goes to Bishsho Road from Saydabad, fare 150 Taka.

There are few Visiting place in Comilla. Most of them are Archeological.

Shalbon Bihar

Shalbon vihara was the royal court for the early Buddhist Students. Students from various places come here for their Meditation and Religious learning. It’s such a quite place inside a barren forest. During their study period the students stay in the Dormitory/Cells around the temple. Before 1200 years ago, the King ‘Bhava Deva’ built that place.
How to go: From Kandirpar you can go to Tomsom Bridge by Auto fare 5 taka. from There you can go to Kotbari by Auto, fare 10 Taka. From Kotbari, Cross the Highway road then by another Auto go to direct Shalbon Bihar, Fare 20 Taka.

Maynamati Museum

Just beside of Shalbon Bihar.

SAARC Citizen: 100 BDT
Foreigner: 200 BDT

Shalbon Buddhist Temple

It is just opposite road of Shalbon Bihar. You can see this from road.

Nilachal Hill inside BIRD area

From Shalbon Bihar Auto will take you to the gate of BIRD. For a group visit, need permission from inside office but 1 or 2 people can go inside for visit without permission. If guard ask you something simply tell him that you want to visit Nilachal Hill.

Itakhola Mura

Itakhola Mura is another archaeological site in Maynamati. As a result of excavation a ground plan of an east facing Buddhist temple has been exposed. Five building and rebuilding phases have been found in the temple. Besides this the remains of a small Vihara has been exposed on northern side of the temple.
How to go: Out from the Bird gate turn left. walk few minutes, you will see Itakhola Mura signboard after Cantonment School.

Rupban Mura

Rupban Mura is another archaeological site in Maynamati. After walk few meters walk from Itakhola Mura you will see a signboard of Rupban Mura

World War Cemetery

From Cantonment road near BIRD, a bus is passed inside the cantonment to the Highway road. Fare 16 Taka. Cross the highway road turn left and turn first right side road. Auto goes there, Fare 5 Taka.

Dhormo Shagor

Its a big pond. Many Local people mainly students usually go there for some refreshment.
From Kandirpar it is walking distance towards Racecourse or Shashon gasa road. From Cantonment Highway many Lagoona comes to Shaashon Gasa, Comilla fare 10 Taka. From there another Auto goes to Kandirpar, fare 10 Taka. Tell the driver to drop you Dharma Shagor.

Roshomalai of MatriBhandar

You will see here and there, many people named there shop "Matrivander" due the popularity. But they are all fake. So buy from Original and get the real taste.
How to go: From Tomsom Bridge to Kandirpar Town Hall. Then turn right, walk straight to Monohorpur. after few minutes you will get Matrivander shop opposite of Kali Temple.

Comilla Club

Just beside of Town Hall at Kandirpar

Nazrul Academy

Walk to the Park behind Dhormo Shagor. You can see Nazrul Academy.
