Porta Sempione

City Gate

Sempione Gate was a part of Roman walls. It was called "Porta Giovia".
In 1807, the Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace) was built during Napoleonic rule. The road front of this new gate, connected Milan to Paris through the Simplon Pass crossing the Alps. This road is still using.
The gate witnessed many historic events. Such as, On 22 March 1848, the Austrian army led by marshal Josef Radetzky escaped from Milan through this gate after being defeated. On 8 June 1859, after the Magenta Battle, Napoleon III and Victor Emmanuel II of Italy triumphally entered Milan through the gate.
How to go: About 1.3 km from Cimitero Monumentale di Milano towards southwest. First walk from southwest corner of cemetery throught Via Bramante towards south about 350 meters. Then turn right and walk straight through Via Cesare Cesariano street.


Parco Sempione

It is a public park.
Inside the Premises:
Torre Branca: Branca Tower iron tower is 108.6 meter high. It is the sixth highest structure in Milan.
Triennale di Milano: It is a art museum.
How to go: The park is located between the Porta Sempione and Sforza Castle.

Last Supper

Painting

The Last Supper of Leonardo da Vinci (Cenacolo Vinciano) is one of the most famous paintings in the world. This artwork was painted between 1495 and 1499.
Leonardo’s Last Supper is located in its original place, on the wall of the dining room of the former Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Only 30 visitors per tour are allowed to spend maximum 15 minutes viewing the painting.
Visiting Time: Tuesday to Sunday - 8 AM to 7 PM.
Entry Fee: 13 Euro ($14.24) for adult. 5 Euro
($5.48) for child age below 19. Advanced ticket is required otherwise you may not get the schedule. 2 Euro ($2.19) extra for advance booking for both adult and child.
