Pabna is the District in Rajshahi Division, Bangladesh.

It is bounded by Natore and Sirajganj districts on the north, Rajbari and Kushtia districts on the south, Manikganj and Sirajganj districts on the east, Natore and Kushtia districts on the west.

Pabna divided into 9 sub districts. They are Atgharia, Bera , Bhangura, Chatmohar, Faridpur , Ishwardi, Pabna Sadar, Sathia, Sujanagar.




How to Reach Pabna

By Air: Rajshahi airport (Shah Makhdum Airport. IATA Code-RJH) is the nearest airport of Pabna.
Buy cheapest air ticket from the app below or check flight fares in Bangladeshi Taka. Or check airfares in other currencies - USD, Canadian Dollar, Euro, Russian Ruble, Indian Rupee.

Type your destination "Rajshahi" and select it from drop down menu. Enter your Depart date and Return date. If one-way then cross the Return date. If more than 1 passenger, enter. If you want business class click on "Business class" and click on search

From Rajshahi airport, You have to go to Pabna by road. Distance about 108 km.

By Bus: From Dhaka. AC, Non AC buses are available, such as “Pabna Express”. Try to avoid night journey.


Pabna Express

Pabna Express have many Counters. There are two routes running through Dhaka. One route is starts from Narayangonj, then Malibagh rail gate, Rampura, Badda, Uttara, Ashulia, DEPZ to Pabna. Another route is starts from Shyamoli-Technical, then Gabtoli, Nobinagar, DEPZ to Pabna. Select nearest counter from your home.
Bus Fare: From Dhaka to Pabna AC 600 Taka ($7.06) and Non AC 400 Taka ($4.7). Pabna to Dhaka AC 500 Taka ($5.88) and non AC 340 Taka ($4).




Transports in Pabna

Bus from Dhaka come at Bus Terminal, Pabna. From Terminal you will get Battery auto rickshaw, which moves to Judge Court via Ananta Bazar. Many autos also move from terminal to inside the town, known as ‘Shohor’, where most of the markets and New Market, Hotels and Cinema Hall are located. Fare 5 Taka ($0.059) for any route.

Judge Court

Pabna Judge Court was built in the British period in 1884. It was used as “Neelkuthi” at the time of indigo revolt. The indigo planter passed their leisure in this space as a club. It was used as the working place of Deputy Commissioner before the court.

Mental Hospital

Pabna Mental Hospital is the first and the only mental hospital in Bangladesh. It was established in 1957 by the then Civil Surgeon of Pabna District in a local landlord's house. In 1959 it was shifted to Hemayetpur, about 8 km from the district town, in an area of 111.25 acres of land
How to go: From Judge Court Mor, you will get Auto Ricksa will take 10 taka to Kashipur Mor. From there, walk to Mental Hospital.


Satsang Ashram

Satsang is a religious organization of Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra, was originally registered in Hemayetpur, Pabna, Bangladesh and later in India.
Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra (14th September 1888 – 27th January 1969) was born in Hemayetpur, Pabna, Bangladesh. He was a homeopathic physician by profession.
Anukulchandra formed kirtan group which attracted by many people. Between 1914 and 1919, Anukulchandra, while performing kirtan, started going into trance. The people around him started recording those messages and 71 days of such messages was later published as a book. Anukulchandra's fame as a divine personality spread all over Bengal. He went to Chakratirtha in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India. There he reached this stage of trance. People from all over India started coming.
On 2nd September 1946, Anukulchandra, at the age of 58, went to Deoghar, Jharkhand, India.
After his death, oldest son Amarendranath Chakravarty (Sree Sree Borda) credited with the expansion of Satsang followers and numerous Satsang centres in different parts of India. On 6th December, 2010, Indian Post Office released a stamp of Amarendranath Chakravarty. Today the activities are headed by Ashok Chakravarty, son of Amarendranath Chakravarty and grandson of Anukulchandra.

Jubli Tank

On 24th April 1971, the Pakistani army perpetrated a tragic genocide at the at this area in Pabna. A water reservoir excavated here later in 1887.
How to go: It is located at Ataikula road, Pabna Sadar.


Tarash Bhaban

Tarash Bhaban is also known as 'Roy Bahadur house'. It was built in the early 18th century by Roy Bahadur Bonomali. He was a Zamider of this region. He had built this house to collect tolls from the people of the region. The main gate was built at a height to allow his elephants to move in or out.
How to go: From Kashipur mor come to Shohor by Auto fare 5 Taka ($0.059). Tarash Bhaban is walking distance from Shohor towards Court Mor.



Day-3:

Shitlaai Jamider House
Palace

Pharmaceutical Company using this area for personal use. Nobody can enter without their permission.
How to go: It is located near Ananta Bazar.


Shujanagar Jamidar Bari
Historical House

House was built almost 250 years ago. The two-storied fort was built on one-third of 120 bighas of land. The building, surrounded by 11 security gates, stood in the main gate, with two large elephants. In addition to using elephants to guard the security of the zamindari house, Azim Chowdhury used as a transport vehicle. A pond on 60 bighas of land was around the building. A mosque inside the premises, A huge pond for the employees' bath and a pond inside for the women's bath.
How to go: It is located at Shujanagar, Pabna


Tatibond Jamidar Bari

The zamindar dynasty and the zamindar house were founded by zamindar Upendra Narayan Chowdhury in the middle of 1700s. Then one by one the descendants continued to manage the zamindari. But during Vijay Govind Chowdhury zamindari period the zamindari started to grow in a bigger way. He was against Muslim community. At that time Muslims in his zamindari area could not slaughter cows for sacrifice. Muslims were also banned from other religious ceremonies.
During the reign of Zamindar Vijay Gobind Chowdhury, several large and beautifully decorated buildings were built in the zamindar's house. A few ponds and two switch monasteries were also built. The two scenic monasteries are still now very popular to tourists but the zamindar's house is now in a state of neglect.
How to go: Tatiband Zamindar Bari is located in a village called Tatiband in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna district.



Day-4:

Haturia Zamindar Bari

The house was built by Zamindar Jiten Chondro in the 19th Century.
How to go: It is located about 50 km from Pabna town at Haturia Nakalia union of Bera upazila.



Day-5:

Khetupara Zamindar Bari
Historical House

Also known as Babur Bari. Zamindar Nobo Kumar Roy was built this house on ten bighas of land  about three hundred years ago in Golabari village, Pabna district. After his death, his only child Parbati Charan Roy managed the zamindari. Parbati Charan had four children. After his death, his three children migrated to India. Only Shyama Charan Roy stayed here and took care of the zamindari.
She has donated a lot of places for different educational institutions. After her death, the house was owned by her son Deepak Kumar Roy. Due to lack of money, he decided to sell the house.

Later, a lady named Sandhya Rani of Shahjadpur in Sirajganj district, bought this house. She renovated the house in 1936.
At present the descendants of Sandhya Rani are living in this house. But the house is almost on the verge of destruction. The current occupants of the house are unable to renovate the house due to lack of money.
How to go: It is located in Golabari village of Khetupara union in Sathia upazila of Pabna district.



Day-6:

Chandrabotir Ghat

On 6th November, 1971, the Pak army face to face fought with the freedom fighters of Bangladesh at this place.
How to go: It is located at Khidirpur village, Maajhpara union, Aatghoria sub-district


Chatmohar Shahi Mosque

The mosque was built in 1581 during the reign of Sultan Abdul Fath Muhammed Masum Khan.
There was a black stone inscription carved on this mosque which is kept at Varendra Research Museum in Rajshahi.
A fort was also built next to the mosque, but it no more exist.
How to go: It is located at Chatmohar, Pabna.



Day-7:

Hardinge Bridge
Steel Railway Bridge


Hardinge Bridge is a steel railway bridge over the river Padma located at Paksey, Ishwardi, Pabna connected with Kushtia. It is named after Lord Hardinge. The bridge is 1.8 kilometer long. The bridge was proposed in 1889. Construction began in 1910. It was constructed by Braithwaite and Kirk Company based on design of Sir Alexander Meadows Rendel. It was completed in 1912 and trains started moving on it in 1915.
How to go: From Terminal you will found CNG to go Ishwardi. Then hire auto to go to Hardinge Bridge and Laalon Shah Bridge.
