Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens

14-acre park. The mansion inside park was built between 1927 and 1928 for Ima Hogg and her brothers, William C. and Michael Hogg. Miss Hogg created a series of gardens. In 1957, Miss Hogg donated her home and her collection to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Bayou Bend opened to the public in 1966.

Beer Can House

Houstonian John Milkovisch started in 1968 to convert his Houston home into the Beer Can House. It is covered with flattened beer cans, bottle caps, bottles. The house is estimated to include over 50,000 beer cans. Today, the Beer Can House is owned and operated by The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.
Visiting Time: 30 minutes tour on Saturday and Sunday - 1 PM to 5 PM. So try to buy ticket in advanced.

The Tunnel is about 9.7 km long and 20 feet below Houston's downtown streets, that connects many buildings.

Scanlan Fountain: Fountain was built in 1972.
U.S.S. Houston Monument: Granite, bronze, brass monument was built in 1998.
World War I Monument: Bronze monument was built between 1918-1920.
Histroric Buildings:
The Kellum-Noble House: The house was built in 1847 by Nathaniel Kellum. In 1899, the City of Houston purchased the property with the house for municipal park.
Nichols-Rice-Cherry House: The house was originally located on Courthouse Square in downtown Houston and built by Houston merchant Ebeneezer Nichols. He sold it to his business partner William Marsh Rice. Rice lived in the house. Emma Richardson Cherry, a Houston artist, acquired the house, restored it, and moved it to 508 Fargo in the Montrose area. In 1959, the Heritage Society moved the Nichols-Rice-Cherry house to Sam Houston Park. The elegant furniture depicts the lifestyle of William Marsh Rice. There is a studio here, which showcases many of Emma Richardson Cherry's works and artwork.
San Felipe Cottage: In 1868, the cottage was originally located at 313 San Felipe Road (now West Dallas). It was moved to Sam Houston Park in 1962. German immigrant families were lived in this cottage.
Pillot House: Pillot House was originally located at 1803 McKinney in downtown Houston. It was built by Eugene Pillot, a French immigrant in 1868. The Pillot family donated it to The Heritage Society in 1965.
St. John Church: The Church was built by German and Swiss immigrant farmers at Mangum Road in 1891. The building was moved to Sam Houston Park in 1968.
Old Place: The original one-room building was built in 1823 at the bank of Clear Creek. It was moved to Sam Houston Park in 1973 and restored.
Staiti House: The Staiti House was built in 1905 by Henry T. Staiti in the Westmoreland Place neighborhood. The Staiti House was moved into Sam Houston Park in 1986.
Yates House: It was originally built in 1870 by  John Henry Yates at 1318 Andrews Street in Freedmen's Town. Yates family donated it to The Heritage Society, the house was moved to Sam Houston Park in 1994.
Fourth Ward Cottage: It was originally built in the middle of the 19th century for a German immigrant family. They lived there until 1883. Then it served as a rental house until 2001. Then it was served as a major hub for black education, business, and culture after Emancipation. The cottage was relocated to Sam Houston Park in 2002.
Baker Family Playhouse: The Baker Family Playhouse was constructed around 1893 by Captain James A. Baker for his daughter Alice. It moved with the family five times and entertained four generations of Baker children. The playhouse was moved to Sam Houston Park in 2010.

Rothko Chapel

It was built in 1964 by John and Dominique de Menil. On its walls are fourteen black but color-hued paintings by Mark Rothko (abstract painter). Rothko died by suicide in his New York studio on February 25, 1970.

San Jacinto Battleground State

The Battle of San Jacinto fought on April 21, 1836, was the final and decisive battle of the Texas Revolution. Led by General Samuel Houston, the Texan Army engaged and defeated Mexican army in a fight that lasted just 18 minutes.
In 1886, the state of Texas purchased 10 acres of battlefield land for the 50th anniversary of the Texas Revolution. In 1897, it was decided to establish a public park here. An additional 336 acres of land has been purchased for this purpose.
A 567.31-foot-high monument constructed between 1936 and 1939 and dedicated on April 21, 1939, is the world's tallest masonry column. The San Jacinto Museum of History is located inside the base of the San Jacinto Monument. There is a observation deck on the top of the monument.
The 160-seat Jesse H. Jones Theater for Texas Studies presents a 35-minute movie titled Texas Forever!! The Battle of San Jacinto.
USS Texas (BB-35) is the former United States Navy New York-class battleship. She was launched on 18 May 1912 and commissioned on 12 March 1914. She is also one of the eight remaining ships and the only remaining capital ship to have served in both World Wars and having earned a total of five battle stars for service in World War II. It was decommissioned on 21 April 1948. The battleship was presented to the State of Texas and serving as a museum.
